Idk man. All we know is Sumrall is interviewing with UF and it's not the "done deal" that was being signaled. Thats all we know for sure.

If I am running these programs - a coach has about 24 hours to say yes or it is a no from me and I am moving on.

The problem with that is the same as strong arming recruits these days. Its not like Auburn is in some kind of position to pick who they want. If you have been paying attention lately, you will see that we have been getting who is left.

There are so many good jobs open every year, the coaches have the leverage. Same with the top recruits these days. It would be great to just tell them to sign and be done with it but you just cant. You will be the last girl at the bar at closing time

You are right, but if we default to Durkin, it is time to admit this was completely botched.

Freeze all over again.

If you go read all of the team boards, its the same names and they all talk about a mystery candidate. The On3 type writers string the conversation along for clicks. No one really knows what is going on.

We are talking to Dilly, Golesh, Drink, DJ and Sumrall. We will have a coach by Monday.

no we aren't.. Drink got his extension, Sumrall is out, Dilly aint leaving AZ. Golesh may have been torpedoed thanks to someone stupidly leaking his name...

and no thank you to DJ Merkins

Golesh is average at best. What has he ever proven?

Its not as much as what Florida has as it is how hard it is to coach at Auburn. I would argue that it is one of the , if not the, hardest places in college football to coach at. Considering the schedule, proximity to others recruiting, overall frickery of the program

From Shug Jordan in the 50s to Gus Malzahn through 2020 Auburn had one coach who did not win a national title, play for a national title, or have an undefeated season. I doubt there is another program in the country that can match that. Point is, a good coach can and will win here. We just aren't hiring good coaches.

Who is a serious hire?

I'm a bit disappointed we apparently didn't pursue Lane Kiffin, but all money must be on board, and with what happened last time, I can't blame the money folk.

Yep if it's Durkin, Cohen gets to be a lame duck for a year or until he fricks something else up. They won't fire him immediately bc how bad does that look. But his days will be numbered.

It’s embarrassing… to think these idiot admins actually believe our tolerance of ineptitude out of the FB program will continue is comical. If they make a sh$t hire I’m finished buying tickets… may even encourage jr to look at other universities for undergraduate

Barfield. What is "very different" other than UGA being where they're at but UGA and Bama were the two top programs in the country when Dye took over as well? Hugh sucked but proved Auburn could still recruit at a high enough level to win big. I'm not saying it's easy and there are some definitely challenges but that's true for all but 5-6 jobs in the country.
