Is Durkin being hired also contingent on keeping certain staff?

Looking at HC record at Maryland, I say no.

I just know our lower tier track record hasn’t been good.

Chizik hit gold with $200k
Haskin speaks for itself

I can empathize why our AD doesn’t want to give full rites for someone to potentially burn it back down not having Big time success

Frick Lane’s girl, we wouldn’t be in this position if she hadn’t pulled the “I wanna stay in Oxford card”

It’s kinda crazy to give a coach of just Troy and Tulane complete ownership to do whatever he wants.

Then he should never be the candidate. You should hire the coach you can hand the program over to, period. It’s crazy to think you can hire anyone and handcuff them with stipulations and your preferred assistants. fricking clown world

If we aren't willing to trust a coach, we aren't going to win.

Gotta trust someone 100% and if they frick it up, fix it. Don't hold their hand. High quality coaches don't want that, and shitty ones will become dependent on it

Email the AD and say Durkin = Done. There has to be some blow back on that plan. It's giving up on Auburn's part

But its less crazy to assume that non-football coaches (Cohen, boosters) who thought that Hugh Freeze would succeed are more qualified to pick his coordinators and coaches for him?

Yes I agree, but aren’t Davis and Nix considered elite recruiters?

Sumrall could have used them to guide him this 1 year.

Won’t melt about “losing” Sumrall. Will melt about retaining durkin.

Glad to hear. It's been an uphill battle getting people to climb aboard the Tractor Traylor, but I'm making progress

Son, we didn't get Cam Coleman because Davis is an "elite recruiter". You got him because we paid him more than everyone else.

If Sumrall crashed out about being told he had to keep one of the best DCs and recruiters in the game and a WR coach responsible for this elite talent we now have at that position, then let his bitch arse stay in Tulane.

And keep the staff that has led the elite talent to a likely 5-7 record

He’s not staying at Tulane either way. It blows my mind that y'all think that’s normal. Being told who to keep is a huge red flag to anyone coming in.

Dude, we hired Marcus Davis away from Hawaii.

The "elite talent" was paid to come here.

Also, the "elite talent" has been highly overrated. Coleman has 2 drops for every highlight reel catch he has made. It took Perry Thompson 2+ years just to get onto the filed and produce marginal results.

This is the typical dumbass Auburn fan response.

Maybe we should hire Cam Coleman to be our AD and he can make all of the decisions for us?
