You get out.
Starting over from scratch could fix the problems that can’t be fixed now.

And lower the field (yea, I know it can’t be done because Goat Creek runs under the stadium)
I have no clue what you are talking about.
Explain what happened like I was 5.

Most football stadiums built in the last 50 years or so are designed so that the front row of seats is about 8-10 feet above the field. (This is seen more in NFL stadiums, because most college football stadiums are much older). This is done so that the fans in the first few rows can see better (i.e., you don't pay for front row seats at the 50-yard line and get stuck staring at 100 coach/player butts for 3 hours, as can happen in J-H).
This issue has come up in regard to J-H before, but the problem is (apparently) there is a creek running under the playing field which prohibits lowering the playing surface. (Long story short, some refer to it as "Goat Creek" because many years ago, before there was a J-H, the vet school animals were housed near there. I don't think it actually has a name.)

In summary, I would like to see 3 major improvements to J-H:
1. Actual seats. If you want to save a few coins, benches are fine for the student section and the visitor section. But adults paying for season tickets should expect a real seat. This is my #1 renovation by a mile.
2. Lower the field, as mentioned. Of course, this would (apparently) require some type of advanced engineering and extensive re-routing of the underground creek. So it is gonna cost 'ya.
3. Bring the stands to the East and West in closer to the field. Those stands currently "bow out" because there used to be a track around the field. Again, $$$ (I'm sure).
So by the time you spend all the money necessary to make these changes to the current stadium, you might as well just pay to build a new stadium. Modern design top to bottom. Fewer seats, but higher quality. Stands elevated, but snug against the field to maximize noise. Maybe even put the students down front everywhere except behind the visitor's bench (like the basketball arena). Hell, maybe even a retractable or canvas roof to keep the heat out and the noise in. (Might as well go all-out!)
And rather than smack in the middle of campus, put it out from the center of campus just a bit. Close enough to walk, but more convenient for traffic. (See Beaver Stadium at Penn State.) I suggest out past new frat row.
That's my 0.02 worth, anyway.

I had never heard that before. Found this interesting read from David Housel about it. LINK
quote:
The stadium was built in a gulley to save money. By using the contours of a gulley, there was no need to erect a seating area; the hills of the gulley were ready-made stands. All that was needed was to pour concrete and add seats.
quote:
As with any gulley, there was a creek running through it. It is still there, buried far beneath the turf of Jordan-Hare. Now a concrete drainage box, it continues to drain most of the water from downtown Auburn. The drainage system starts near the old War Eagle Theater, now Skybar, and runs downhill diagonally across campus and under Jordan-Hare, from the northeast corner to the southwest. After flowing diagonally under the Coliseum parking lot, water joins Parkinson's Mill Creek, skirts the football practice and soccer fields then begins its journey to the Gulf of Mexico in earnest.
quote:
There is an artesian well in the extreme northeast corner of the stadium. In times of severe drought and water rationing it was used to water the field, and could be used again if needed. When the Gatorade craze started in the sixties, AD Jeff Beard and head coach Shug Jordan joked about bottling water from that spring and marketing it as Tiger ----." You can fill in the blanks. They never did.

New York sounds like he knows what he is talking about then.
Wouldn’t you know we created problems by doing shortcuts.
The fact there there is a creek under the field is mindblowing.

AU isn't the only school that has done that. Tanyard Creek runs under the home sideline at Sanford Stadium in Athens. It is actually accessible via a tunnel under the field.
There may be others...as was posted a couple of spots up, back when these old southern stadiums were being built, the schools used the natural topography to help form the seating area.
Not just in football. The NASCAR track in Bristol is built into a natural valley between a couple of mountains.

It's past time to bring back the light up tiger sound meters.

With the LED ribbon boards you could do it and not be a permanent installation like they were under Bowden.
I'd love to see the Tiger Meat chant come back, but that probably never will since the student section is so far away from the visitor locker room.
I'd really love to see AUMB put the alma mater back in the pregame show, or have it at the end of every halftime show. Playing on field and HC and then in the stands post game is crappy.
