Am I the only one who is so shell shocked that I’m still thinking “well we have to still beat Ball State”

Hugh has proven he can beat and lose to anyone. I’m taking no opponent for granted

It will take a good 3-4 years of good football before I am ever not completely nervous about any game, no matter who it is.

ETA: it’s been over 10 years since we’ve had a coach/team I’ve felt consistently comfortable, even against cupcakes. Weird you assumed that comment was just about Hugh.

Have I had one in my football fandom lifetime? Just off the top of my head

Tubbs - I guess he didn’t lose to cupcakes but we blew games we absolutely shouldn’t have. Arkansas comes to mind
Chizik - Utah State comes to mind
Gus - Jacksonville State
Harsin - Georgia State
Freeze - New Mexico State

If you're going to boil it down to one game you could do that for any coach, Saban lost to uab and ulm at lsu and bama. We at least won most of the games you mentioned

We were the luckiest team ever to lose that game but, and Im not taking up for Chizik, we had just lost about 40 players off our team and the majority of our starters. And they had Bobby Wagner.

Your comprehension of my stance on Hugh is laughably wrong.

Yea Tubbs was probably the last one I generally didn’t feel nervous about cupcakes. We weren’t great plenty, but we usually took care of business easy enough. Chizik, Gus, Harsin, and Hugh have all had some horrid showings against bad competition, and we haven’t been consistently good enough the rest of the time to ever feel confident.

Hey I’m just listing what causes my Auburn anxiety. Doesn’t have to be rational

I don’t really remember the Syracuse game but USF is a vivid memory even though they ended up being somewhat good.

GT also memorable but not really on that level I don’t think. I was younger in those days.

I remember the USF loss. We were favored by a lot. And I think we were highly ranked when we lost to GT. Thats been a bit

And the Syracuse game was embarrassing.
