BUT a name that keeps coming up on ATL sports talk radio is this South Florida coach eventually coming to the SEC.

Listen to fact.
Apparently Brown and White can’t measure up.

I tried explaining this in last week's game thread, but we got some egos that can't admit what we are as a program. Right now, that is lower half of the SEC, if not in the last tier with USC. We dont have any elite talent sans the young WRs. No one on defense would start for the top 5 SEC teams. 8-10 wins would be a miracle season. We are looking at 5-6. It took Kirby 4ish years to turn the corner. And that was with him inherenting a better roster and playing in the east.

I disagree on many points. Faulk and Blocton would start on other good teams. We have enough talent to not lose to NMSt, Maryland, Cal and to close out games against the elite teams where we crapped the bed in the end. Our team has been coached by a carousel of coaches and coordinators every damn year and none of the multi-million dollar coaches can figure out how to put them in the right places to succeed (2021 OT and 4&31 losses to Bama). Winning has not become a habit yet and the norm because of that. I don’t have all the answers as I have zero experience running a sports club but we are not as crappy as our record indicates.

I can accept that. But if we were so depleted, I mean potato set it on fire, then you would think with a good Freeze class we’d have to be a little better than last year? Wouldn’t we? But we go out and look worse against a Cal team we found a way to beat last year.
Folks aren’t losing it because we lost to uga or something. There is reason to be upset that we are seeing regression in year 2 and not improvement.
But you guys are quick to jump all over us for being disappointed. Get real.

…in reality nothing is on Thorne
This is not remotely true.
If your point is that the major responsibility falls with the head coach and the staff,…yes. However, players can play poorly and the most important position is the QB; if that player makes bad plays it is very costly for the team; that is exactly what happened in the Cal game.
I also agree that O line play and the coaches game plan decisions hurt us in this game, but to totally excuse the awful performance by Thorne in that game is ridiculous.

Thorne has like 8700 passing yards, 70 touchdowns, countless ints, and bad decisions.
I'm not saying Thorne is absolved from his mistakes im saying they are who he is.
He isn't changing anything at this point. I think that much is obvious.

they improved to the point that they played significantly better, despite their best offensive weapon (Ott) less than 100% and a non factor
despite a (allegedly) major talent infusion, we played about as badly as we did last year, only at home with every advantage
thats all on Freezus

That's always been my biggest complaint with the auburn offense. Everyone else can dink and dunk on us but we cant seem to do that to anyone else. Why? Why can't our coaches find a way for that to happen for our offense. It's like everyone we get as a head coach or offensive coordinator forgets how to offense when they get here.

Well to be fair, we haven’t had a serviceable QB since Nix freshman year. That being said the next year was CoVid and we fired our coach after (dumb). Then we hired a coach that we fired after year 1 but we didn’t really fire him we just ruined him and let him coach another year. It was such colossal failures we decided to hire another coach who sold some long term build plan that sounded like a great way to blame everything on Harsin. So here we are. We have an avg Ole Miss coach. So we should expect to be avg Ole Miss. i wouldn’t wait much longer to get a coach with a ‘Win Now’ plan.

USC is better than us, at least right now going on week 3. Remains to be seen how they do rest of season, but right now pretty much everyone has them about 8th or 9th and AU about 12th-13th in the conference.
Kentucky is pretty much in our position. They have a veteran 5 star QB (Vandagriff) who started out at GA, but was processed. Kentucky thought "well GA is just stacked, so their backup 5 stars are prolly still good." They were wrong. He absolutely sucks (way worse than Thorne). He went 3/10 for 30 yards.

Well I don’t like going to bed felling negative so…
It was just one bad game and it wasn’t an SEC loss so hope remains. This was just a team that wasn’t quite ready for a tougher opponent and we over looked them. Focus will be good next week and we’ll get some things worked out. All is not lost…long season ahead and look forward to seeing great success in coming weeks!
Peace out.

Mark Richt didn't leave the cupboard bare. He just built on what was already a successful program with good/great players. Not the same thing here.

Didn’t say it was, it just didn’t take Kirby four years as the post that reply was to inferred.

Alex Golesh. Ok I can see that. He was Tennessee's OC a couple years ago with Hendon Hooker. If that QB he has at USF could throw at all, he would have beaten Bama the last 2 seasons.

I understand the pieces aren't there yet. My issue is we just look unprepared and poorly coached.
It’s been a point for 2 years now. Doesn’t matter who is on the field. If they are not coached, they won’t be successful.
