Agree, once you fall into a role with Gus it's a wrap for your career

That and the fact he has no side to side movement, he has not shown a lot of vision and he fumbles alot

But Im sure its mostly because Gus doesn't like him.

LB Chandler Wooten is opting out of the season. He has a baby on the way and doesn’t want to get and transmit the corona to his family. He plans to redshirt, giving him the chance to come back the next year.

I don’t care if he chooses not to play, but Auburn should be free to give his scholarship to someone who does. At least for this year.

I’m not judging him. But let’s say for instance Cam’s brother is playing this year. He’s a walkon. Give him Wooten’s scholarship for a year. Tell Chandler he has can use the facilities to workout. But if he wants to go to class, he’s going to have to pay his own way until he comes back.

I agree with you, Wooten is on scholarship to play football. But this is just one of those things that will look extremely bad on Auburn if we did that.

I think they are letting players stay on some sort of scholarship if they sit out, and not count against the 85. I could be wrong though

And, I know a scholarship means more than just the dollars, but I’d think Caylin Newton might be in one of the best financial situations on the team. Wooten probably needs the scholarship more than him from a life standpoint

What a bad look that' be.

Extraordinary situations require extraordinary solutions and even a imaginary pandemic might just fit that bill.

From the mean streets of Acworth, GA...

Why on earth would they keep a kid that sits out on scholarship? That sets a precedent for the other 84 to sit out with no consequences.

How are you any safer not playing ball, but still attending classes? Being a part of the football team will give you access to increased medical care and testing. That would give me additional peace of mind with a child on the way.

But what do I know... I'm just an adult with common sense, not an entitled SJW college kid.

First of all in Wooten's case he doesn't have to be attending a class. He can surely do online classes to stay in school.
And if he is RSing, then i would think he STILL has access to health care through the athletic department.

This is not your normal 'I am sitting out for the hell of it'. This is a strange unique situation and i expect many college players who have children may do the same at their schools.

I am sure with this type of thinking, I would never want my student/athlete to rely on your counseling during an emotional health issue....

I guess I am insensitive to think that a student-athlete should honor their commitment by playing their sport in order to retain their scholarship.

You realize he is taking a redshirt, right?
