I have come to the conclusion that UGa has a horrible side walk fan base that is worse than Bama’s.
Didn't used to be in the late 1980's and 1990's.
After that shithead WR committed offensive PI to catch the winning touchdown at J-H in 2002, somehow they thought they became elite.
They are much more unbearable now than Bama fans.

Fair enough. GA redneck is different from a NC/VA redneck. Poor mill villages in GA are worlds apart from coastal VA poverty.. Get your views. In my neighborhood I put out an AU flag and my new neighbor didn't even know what it was. I have asked him to stay off my property ) Luckily he and his wife just use the place on the weekends until she retires and even then we still have plenty of buffer space.
I think its funny you figured me to be from up north. Good eye.
You know where I grew up there was 0 cfb, just nfl. No talk of it, few seemed to watch it. Saturdays were pleasant in the fall in that way.

I live in Atlanta and have a lot of UGA grads in my family, including one daughter. I cannot STAND UGA. They are as arrogant as Bama fans with none of the history.
Gustard has to beat these bitches. They are insufferable. However, the great thing about beating Georgia is that their fans will whine for a whole year. I mean seriously whine and cry. Most fans move on to next week. Not Georgia. Crybabies are the gift that keeps on giving when you beat them.

I don't even think it's close. UGA by a wide margin. It's like a completely different culture there. I went to tailgate at UGA last year for the game and everyone was just shite house wasted and rowdy as all hell. Some of the UGA guys were throwing empty beer cans at some of the Auburn girls near us.
It's unreal how different Auburn/UGA are but if you think about it, 1 is the state school so it's more likely to pull those type of people in.

Not an AU grad, but I married one. UGA fans are far worse than Bama fans. We've been harassed just walking across campus in Athens; swore I'd never go to another game there. We've also had leg humpers flip us off while we were driving to Auburn for the DSOR.
If we don't beat them Saturday (sorry, I'm not optimistic), I would LOVE to see Miami win out, beat them in the playoffs and win it all. That would be SWEET.

Used to be that this was a fun rivalry. Even when UGA was great in the early 80's it was civil. AU and UGA fans had a lot in common. Not any more. Full douche baggery now.

I standby my belief that Mark Richt brought an underserved arrogance and ugliness into that fanbase. Our game was always fun before he got there. Their hatred was with Florida and ours was with Alabama. The last time I went to Athens was 2009 and they were acting like West Virginia fans towards us. It was pathetic. Not all of them are bad and they recognize they've underachieved for years, but the sidewalkers are angry. Hopefully Kirby brings some class back.

Bama fans.. way, WAY worse. Just drive around any small town in Alabama and go in a grocery store or gas station and tell me how it can even get worse.

quote:Agree that it completely changed when Richt was hired there. For all of the "St. Mark" image that he tried to portray (and I think away from the game he was a genuine good person), he certainly brought that FSU attitude and the fans went right along with it.

The last game I went to in Athens was 2001, and after the way we were treated I swore I would never go back. Even the UGA fans/alums who invited us to the game and asked us to tailgate with them had gotten back, packed up and left before we got back to the car.
I think the worst individual fan I have encountered sat next to us in 2013. At that time our seats were up towards the back of the north end zone (section 39). This guy comes in and sits next to us and is showing everyone around him pictures on his phone of the scoreboard from 2012. I was so disappointed that he left at halftime. I would have loved to have seen him at the end of the game.

I grew up a Tech fan. Hated UGA and still do. Lived in Athens.
UGA is bad, and the fans can be really bad. There is a certain level of redneck friendliness from Alabama fans that isn't there with the douchey transplant UGA fans.
But Bama fans are worse. They're the worst fans in the country and it isn't really a contest. UGA fans are bad, but they don't stab/shoot/poison people and things like Alabama fans do.

I think simple proximity is driving a lot of these answers. The answer is bammer and it isn't close.

I will say, however, that at least with the Bama fans, they have been doing their schtick for so long that you get used to it. Those of us of a certain age remember when Georgia fans weren't this bad. There was a time when levels of douchiness for fans went Bama, then Florida, followed by some combination of LSU and Ole Miss.
This Georgia surge to the top has been a relatively recent thing.

While I think it's more important for AU to beat Alabama overall
Right now, UGA may be more important from a balance of power perspective. As some other poster has said, I've made my peace with Bama's dominance.

"Who the frick names a town Cumming?"
The same type of people that name a town Climax.
I have a friend that is an insufferable Dawg fan. He was a member of their band when he attended. When he gets uppity I ask him when the last time they even sniffed a Naty...

Bama’s sidewalkers really really suck, but people who went to UAT aren’t usually that bad.
UGA’s sidewalkers really really suck, and the people who went to UGA that I know blow too. Their inflated sense of self worth is absolutely grating. Athens is wasted on those privileged pricks.
