Forrest fire raging about 2-3 miles away from my house. On pre evac status right now. It's taken 40-60 homes in the Black Forrest area and heading SE which is in the area we are in. I highly doubt it makes to our homes as we are not in the trees. However, with the winds like they are flames can spread and jump. We have all the important stuff packed and ready to go if need be. I am trying to show the kids that I am calm. They have been crying and scared. I think I have them calmed down now. As dry as it's been the Black Forrest was a kindle box waiting to blow.

So what the hell you folks up to tonight?

Thank you nino. Just watching news intently and waiting to see what this does. We are transferring in about 6 weeks. If everything was already packed and moved i would say let it burn...

Not really....well kind of not really.

We had to evacuate because of a wiildfire in San Diego in 2003.

Our neighborhood lost hundreds of homes.

The police knocked on our door and told us to leave.

It was scary. Good luck to you.

Do they not prescribe burn there? I've always wondered.

Still under pre evac status. 100+ homes have been lost so far. Winds are picking up and should be around 30 MPH by 1-2pm. Not good for fighting fires.

I learned from the Waldo fire after seeing the aftermath just how illogical fires are I know that may sound weird. I always just figured a big fire just levels everything in its path, but there would be a house untouched in the middle of burned down homes. There also would be one burned out home among many untouched homes. There was no rhyme or reason and left me in awe of what I saw. That fire took approx 350 homes.

Good luck!! Take pictures of everything in the house. Every drawer, closet, cabinet, etc. It'll make battling insurance easier (hopefully, not needed.)

Yeah, let us know how you are doing when you can. If you need anything, like help moving items, place to stay, etc., let me know. I am up in Parker.

Zero containment. Winds blew it North away from me, but that just means the main part of the Black Forrest going down. We are still under pre evac status. Two of my friends have lost their homes and 3 others are in the path of the fire. Everyone helping each other and have helped several pack stuff to get out. Ranches opening their land to livestock. If you google Black Forrest you can see all the fuel for this fire and the winds are always picking up through the day.

Positive side there isn't loss of life reported yet. I believe we have some missing person reports. However, there are always people who think they can stay behind and save their home by hosing down their property and get taken by the fire. Hope we don't have any this time.

Map showing area of concern. The person doing this has tried to put some of the addresses of lost homes, but not anywhere near all of them.

Thank you for asking
