The worst part is that next year is the best year he will ever have. The roster will be far worse in 23. I can't believe that our all powerful ptb let Allen Green hire a guy who thinks he's Gene Hackman in Hoosiers.

That’s basically what Cole Cubelic said. Wasn’t even framed positively for Harsin. Just that his sources were saying Auburn hit a bump in the road and now Harsin probably staying.

I certainly didn’t imagine most of the fanbase would be so willing to back Harsin.

It's more hating the optics than backing Harsin

That’s an odd way to frame it. A head coaching hire in March is a bad hire. Chances are high that you let him go after 3 years. The worst part is that you have to offer the shitty hire a multiple year deal because no coach is taking a job without one. So if you fire Harsin and bring in a Shula type hire, you’re just kicking the can 3 or 4 years down the road with millions more in buyouts to be paid.

I just hope all of you who subscribe to these AU beat writers remember the coaching search and this debacle when it is time to renew

Im just not sure how you go from having a slam dunk reason(only reason you wouldn’t consider paying), to having nothing.

In 12 months I predict Harsin will be the most hated figure in Auburn football history. We are about to experience the depths of football hell

I don’t think it’s that dramatic. He probably comes out and goes 8-5 with another mediocre class and we mutually part ways.

Wishful thinking. You are going to see a coach with zero booster support, and little fan support as the season wears on

Lol I mean what’s the worst that can happen? I don’t think he’s a 4-8 type coach so I just don’t see is being disastrous on the field. Our talent isn’t great so we prob won’t win too much. His recruiting isn’t good but again we are auburn so we pull top 20 classes basically automatically.

Again I think he has a mediocre season with a mediocre class and then we mutually part, and he’s just a small note in the history of auburn football

The damage from that year will cost us beyond 2023 and 2024

Why? Because we were Unsuccessful in railroading him? You really need to get a grip.

Enjoy the mess. I don't care about anything beyond results, recruiting, and coaching turnover. Tell me 1 things in any of those 3 areas you feel good about

Cole and them were saying Monday that there was no chance he returns. They have no idea.

Are our people running this show that incredibly dumb?

I agree. The recruiting will be hard as shite (even more) due to the instability and uncertainty around the program. It's been made clear Harsin is not wanted here. Now he has all the power if he is kept on.

Talked to a current D1 coach yesterday who says the common perspective in his world is it's a witch hunt, FWIW.

It's as obvious as the nose on your face. The optics of it are horrible.
