I'll take, "I read it on Rivals" for $800, Alex.

The fact Petrino has not been interviewed and we are quite possibly 36 hours from a decision (consensus seems to be Wed) has me concerned about Petrino's chances right now.
Smart seems to have had a meteoric rise since noon today.
I think I discounted Smart's chances way too much previously. I am not entirely sure he is not currently the favorite the way things appear to be playing out.
I still believe (hope) Gus is a long shot.

ST, AuburnEagle's former mod said Kirby will NOT be hired.
Cam Newton wants Gus to be the head coach.
Two stupid, possibly irrelevant facts.

For some reason I have a feeling they haven't "interviewed" Petrino, because he will be the hire if nobody just wows us. Interview everyone else, the. Bring Petrino in if he is the guy we hire.
Hope my gut is right

Here's what my dad heard:
1) Patterson said no
2) Kirby's a done deal, announced in the morning
3) Someone else was on the table, no name given
4) Kirby made some demand where they said, "Okay, but we need to run it by some people in the morning first"
5) He's bringing "a dozen or so" recruits with him
Now, my dad is also where I got the information about Chizik staying/Petrino as OC, so take it for what it's worth (nothing).

fwiw, Kirby Smart is 36 years old... that just seems way too young.

It's pretty fukin young. How old was the Steelers coach though when he took over and won a Super Bowl? its rare but it happens.

I put that in quotation marks because that's exactly what he said, but I'd expect that to be a pretty large exaggeration

The fact that it may come down to Smart or Malzahn almost makes me physically ill. I keep hearing how Jacobs is an "Auburn man", but if one of these clowns get the job, he clearly doesn't have the programs best interests at heart. That, or he's a complete fricktard. Or both.
