re: **Official New Coaching Staff Thread** (Gus haz a done staff!!!)

I'm glad I was able to create the new buzz word for this forum. I apologize that my sources were incorrect. I have no sources for the assistant coaches as I no longer trust my original source.

It's all fluid.

See....I told you "fluid" was the operative word. My source is just as confused as everyone else. The administration is a cluster and no one is on the same page. Petrino is out now and it's between Kirby and Malzahn....if Kirby says no it's Malzahn. The late name today is Rich Rod and if there is a hire out of left field it will be him. Fluid I say! Fluid!

Do not believe the rumors. Kirby Smart is not the primary candidate. I still expect Bobby Petrino. If it falls through and Smart is hired JJ needs to be fired immediately and Pat Dye is still in control.

You will know by Wednesday.

I'm torn on Smart...he could be another Chizik or....potentially another Mushamp which would be good.

It appears Smart had a terrific interview which has made this situation more fluid.

I have received new information from my source: Smart has gained significant ground today and could potentially beat out Petrino who is expected to interview tomorrow. Odds of Petrino have dropped from 60% to 50%.

My source who is close to a board member says 60% chance Bobby Petrino is next coach. Very fluid situation...also says Malzahn would get it over Smart because most can compromise over him. Petrino will interview tomorrow according to this source and announced on Wednesday.

The situation is very fluid and people will get tired of me saying it....PM has no clue what he's talking about. He is changing his mind with every new update. I remain convinced that Bobby Petrino will be the next coach. Patterson has the offer but most likely will stay at TCU. Petrino is the guy. I mentioned it's fluid because he has to be signed off on. If Smart gets it then Pat Dye is really in control. If Malzahn gets it then the CEO of Alabama Power is very influential on the board and Malzahn was deemed the "safe" choice.

Ok Gnar but a family member knows a board member very well. Also - another thing that will happen is Jay Jacobs will retire in March.

Step away from the ledge. Morris and Smart are just courtesy interviews. Petrino is #1 and has always been #1 and will interview last and will be announced on Wednesday. Malzahn has always been the fall-back candidate if something goes wrong with the Petrino situation. Fisher and Patterson have always said they will listen and perhaps talk to the committee but are unlikely to leave their current jobs. BMFP will be the next coach. You can write that

The reason we are waiting is because it has to appear that we are doing a legitimate search and interviewing candidates. This will all be over by Wednesday. It will be Fisher or Petrino....most likely Petrino. I'll say this.....if Kirby Smart gets the job then Pay Dye does have all the power because he is pushing for him hard.

I continue to hear that Bobby Petrino has a 60% shot and only one board member is strongly opposed. Malzahn and Smart were always going to get interviews. Bobby will be the last to interview and if Jimbo does not accept the job (which most don't think he will) Petrino will be named on Wednesday. Patterson is a slight possibility but most do not think he will leave TCU. He already makes 3.5 million and they could match an Auburn offer. He's holding out for Texas.

That's exactly the info I have.

Actually the board member opposed is the CEO of Alabama Power.

The fact is Patterson is not leaving TCU. He's waiting on Texas. Peterson is not leaving Boise. He's waiting on Oregon. You hear these names because their names are floated to get extensions.

You all can take it with a grain of salt but I firmly believe what I just said. Mark it down....Petrino will be announced Tuesday or Wednesday and Jay Jacobs will retire in March.

I mostly lurk but I do have a family member who is friends with a board member. He said there was a 60% chance Petrino would be hired. Fisher is the first choice but most believe he will stay put. Malzahn is the fall back choice if everyone can't agree on Petrino. Basically one influential board member is opposed to Petrino but the majority support. Finally, Jacobs will be retiring in the spring. FWIW
