Patterson or Petrino. Just get us one of them, and I'll have nothing to complain about.

Just make Patterson say no 3-4 times.

So 247 posters are now upset that we might get Patterson.

i would be surprised if that's true. I know it's the information out there right now, i'm just saying i doubt that it's true.

Seriously. Why does everyone take anything that comes from rivals/24/7 etc as the gospel? Nobody outside of that search committee knows for sure who has been contacted/interviewed/given a cavity search. The news from the pay sites is constantly changing.

I'm as concerned about them making the best choice as anyone, but either have some patience or step away from the internet for a while. It'll be done when it's done. I've never seen a group of people so nervous and ready to jump off a bridge.

The list...

Patterson (Do you think we get him? I do not..)
Smart
Malzahn
-----------------
Very sad list IMHO... JJ put his eggs in the Fisher basket and now does not have a solid backup... JABA Very sad...

I don't want either but would definitely take smart over malzahn

You are entiltled to your opinion and it may indeed turn out to have been the better choice. With that said Malzahn has been succesful at 4 different schools. Smart has been succesful at 1 school working for a defensive mastermind. Smart may turn out to be the better head coach but based on their resume's I can't see how you can come to that conclusion especially after seeing the success rate of the Saban coaching tree when they get out on their own.

These pay sites don't hav emuch more info than we do because it is all tightlipped. For instance, Kirby's interview was last week not this week.

The coaches themselves aren't saying too much either. Kirby hasn't been saying anything about his interview to anyone.

It's impossible that anyone charged with the advancement of auburn football could have a coach we're not getting and those two as our back up plans without listing petrino. No way this list is accurate.

Was it PM that said last week it was either fisher, and if he turned us down it was petrino (or was that a poster who was guessing probably just like marshall).

PM literally doesn't know what the frick he is talking about. Just like with the DCoordinator hire he is completely in the dark.

Jay Tate doesn't report rumors and he said right now he isn't sure about who we hire. <--- Seems more legit

How can he? Doesn't Saban forbid his asst. to talk to the media?

If we end up with Smart or Malzahn while Petrino takes a job at USM or somewhere else, I'll know that Auburn is truly as dumb as bama thinks.

I agree that the pay sites know nothing about our end of things. But PM said he's talked to somebody in Petrino's camp and they said he hasn't been contacted. I don't see any reason not to believe that.

but not to petrino, nor anyone from the auburn side?

Auburn isn't so soft and feigning morality that they settle on one of these two.

The situation is very fluid and people will get tired of me saying it....PM has no clue what he's talking about. He is changing his mind with every new update. I remain convinced that Bobby Petrino will be the next coach. Patterson has the offer but most likely will stay at TCU. Petrino is the guy. I mentioned it's fluid because he has to be signed off on. If Smart gets it then Pat Dye is really in control. If Malzahn gets it then the CEO of Alabama Power is very influential on the board and Malzahn was deemed the "safe" choice.
