Calm down. Malzahn and Smart were both expected to be interviewed.

Maybe so, but JJ just doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

I agree 100%... we do not need an unproven head coach.. that would be stupid, the worst possible hire...

I continue to hear that Bobby Petrino has a 60% shot and only one board member is strongly opposed. Malzahn and Smart were always going to get interviews. Bobby will be the last to interview and if Jimbo does not accept the job (which most don't think he will) Petrino will be named on Wednesday. Patterson is a slight possibility but most do not think he will leave TCU. He already makes 3.5 million and they could match an Auburn offer. He's holding out for Texas.

So what's taking so long to get this done?

If its down to jimbo and Petrino, why not offer jimbo the job now, see what he says, and then just go ahead and get Petrino? I mean is jimbo waiting, or have we not actually offered him the job yet? What's taking so long if we are so sure who it is coming down between?

AVP? Is that a reference to SGA?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. If we do it quickly and don't interview everyone, people are going to be pissed. The longer they drag it out and the more "thorough" the process is, the less resistance people against it will have because they will believe it is either

1- The only good option we had
2-We had no other better option
3-They just wanted the search to be over

It was smart strategy to tell everyone "possibly Saturday" or whatever then push it until mid-late this week. People will be more forgiving the longer it drags on because they want it over and will come to their own conclusions on why it didn't end earlier

The reason we are waiting is because it has to appear that we are doing a legitimate search and interviewing candidates. This will all be over by Wednesday. It will be Fisher or Petrino....most likely Petrino. I'll say this.....if Kirby Smart gets the job then Pay Dye does have all the power because he is pushing for him hard.

Or Gouge has told Jacobs that he would not approve Petrino as a suggestion and would not present him to the board. Fisher tells us no and we're stuck with a bottom feeder.

Common sense does not go on this board. Apparently, we can just go out and get any coach we want. Anyone other than Belichick, and this board will go full meltdown.
