Good luck getting anyone remotely decent to be your 12th man.
So how many other schools in the SEC will have 2 walk ons on scholarship if its that difficult? We never used to have this issue until the past few years when for some reason Bruce wants to hold a scholarship open.

So you’d rather have a Traore or Stretch than a Lior?
They play different positions. If you are asking would I rather have them playing the 4 or 5 over him then yes.

Lior is a walk on who was given a scholarship, but he's still a walk on level talent.

There's no rule that says we would have to keep someone for multiple years.
Its more about using 2 scholarships on walk ons. 1 is understandable. 2 is just wasting spots.

Disagree with most of your points but that’s all good.
Agree with this lol

The disconnect is that Bruce isn’t thinking of Lior as a sub scholarship guy. He sees him as an SEC level 10th or 11th man. Bruce is looking at his roster and saying alright I’ve gotta have 5 guys who can play the 4/5 spots, 5 guys that can play the 2/3 spots, and 2 or 3 guys that can play the 1. He has all that

Was referring to them being scholarship/developmental guys who were unplayable.

Yeah I think there will be some growing pains with this bunch but I really do think the sky is the limit. The pieces are there. Nothing is guaranteed but anything is on the table.

What is the realistic probability that we win a MBB NC in the next five seasons?

Almost as good as any team in the country… which is still highly unlikely. CBB NC is the hardest championship to win in sports IMO.

Yup. I’d say other than Kansas (because to me they are head and shoulders the best program right now) we are right there with anyone. Not to say that we are literally the second best program in basketball but programs 2-30 or so don’t really have massive discernible advantages over one another. All with decimals of each other if you’re looking at a 5 year period probably.

We haven’t gotten to the Sweet 16 but one time in Bruce’s 9 years at Auburn.

It took lightning in a bottle to get there. The odds of winning a title are pretty slim. But in my opinion this year’s team is going to be the best chance since 2019.

I’m having a hard time seeing how this year’s team is going to be better than 2021’s. Sure, our guard play looks significantly improved on paper, but we absolutely struck lightning in a bottle with Kessler and Jabari. That team had rare talent, even if guard play was lacking. Even 19-20’s looked better on paper I think between the experienced guard play and a lottery pick in Okoro.

I’m excited about this year’s team and think we will be better than last year, I just don’t yet see the high upside for this team because we only have one high end talent on the roster right now (maybe two if you count Johni Broome), and he’s a freshman. I do think we will be a much more fun team to watch.

I think we are kinda conflating “better” with “better built for a tourney run.” I would be shocked if this team has a better regular season than 2021-2022 but I could definitely see it being extremely dangerous in March due to shooting ability and defensive potential

And I’d add that the 2019 team had zero high end talent other than Chuma.. Aden and Denver are every bit as talented on paper as Jared and Bryce were. Not saying they’ll mesh together as well and who knows about their defense but if we are just discussing high end talent I think this team has more than 2019 (albeit less than probably 20-21 and 21-22)

Better fit for the tournament. We have a lot of veteran players and some young talent mixed in. We don’t have a glaring Achilles heel like we did the last two years with our guards.

Guard play was more than “lacking”. It was atrocious.

As good as Walker and Jabari were - neither of them could create their own shot.

Every team we played, just sagged back on defense and watched Wendell, KD, Zep, and Flan throw up a 15% three point shooting percentage.

It was maddening to watch. Just like watching Tank and Jarquez try to run behind that pathetic offensive line the last few years.

Yeah, that 2021 team was awful by the end of the season. Teams had figured us out and the guards were really bad. We got blown out in the second round as an overall 2 seed and didn’t win an SEC tournament game as the overall 1 seed.

Miami just engulfed our guards.

That was a well coached older team playing a small guard team with young bigs.

I think Miami had a couple of 24 year old guys.

That's a fair point. I just think it's overly optimistic at this point to assume this team with lower high end talent is going to be better than a team that was the best in the country for a large stretch of the season and had multiple first round picks. I agree guard play potentially gives us a higher upside for March, but we have no idea how this team will gel and haven't seen most of these new guards in action yet.

I agree with this. Defense is a big question mark though and I haven't the first idea what to think about that side of the ball's potential.

Eh, I don’t think that team was ever actually the best in the country. We won some home games early on and had an easy out of conference schedule.

I’m much more confident in this upcoming team winning tournament games.

New uniforms were posted on the auburn Insta feed. If that’s your thing go check it out. I don’t care enough about uniforms to provide link or photo

I saw them and I couldn’t tell any difference between them and the old ones. But the guys were excited about them.
