Even before the scandal, most people connected to AU basketball recognized Harris Adler was the best coach on Bruce's staff.

I have been led to believe Adler is a huge player in Auburn's improvement in these areas

One more reinstated by the NCAA. I think we are down to our 2 and the guard from USC still awaiting an answer from the NCAA. Our halfway point is after OM fwiw

He wasn't part of the FBI deal so I'm not sure it's relevant for us but they don't have anyone else to be working on so I'm hoping we can get some answers soon.

Auburn coach Bruce Pearl: "We're still in the process of trying to get Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy eligible." Pearl said Auburn has not declared them ineligible to the NCAA and that they are enrolled for this semester.

So the internal investigation is still holding things up? Sounds like a standoff between Pearl and Leath, with Wiley and Purifoy caught in the middle.

I'm guessing that they are negotiating with the NCAA and don't want to make an official move until a decision is made

Once they declare then ineligible, the decision is all the NCAA. Until then, the NCAA can't dictate terms unless they want to perform an investigation

BP was on Seth Greenberg's pod today for about 10-12 minutes..

Good listen if you're interested.

Nothing really notable but an interesting tidbit to me was:

Two offseasons ago Steven and Bruce were talking and Steven said "We finally are approaching a UT (referring to their UT days) level roster athleticism/talent wise but we don't have the toughness we had there." Bruce said this convo led to them pursuing more toughness in recruiting and coaching tougher. I think you can see that in bringing in guys like Murray, Dunbar, and you all will see it next year in Doughty.

He also waxed poetic about the toughness of Chuma and Davion.. he said it may not be evident on the surface level but they are two of the most mentally tough guys he has ever coached.

I really want to buy in to this team but I'm struggling to believe that this run will last

And it's really from nothing but a memory of having been burned before

Well, I mean we run out of games to win at the end of the tournament

I'd feel confident about a sweet 16 in that bracket. We would obviously be underdogs to duke but it would still be amazing to get there

If we beat Duke I could see a final four from that bracket.

Definitely would be the easiest region 4 seed path. I just wouldn't put stock on region placement, even at the end of the season. Committee has an arbitrary, subjective process of making seeding/region placement adjustments based on conference affiliation/avoiding early RD rematches

To be honest, "bracketology" in general is kind of a sham. Mid season they do a weird mix of projecting the season + current resume and don't indicate what they weight more heavily. I don't see any good reason why Lunardi or Jerry Palm are qualified to project basketball season results. At the end of the season, most reasonably knowledgable CBB fans could pick the teams + seedings within 2 for ~90-95+% of the field. It isn't that hard.

Starting off as 4 pt favorites. I'll take it. Hopefully Arkansas doesn't shoot the lights out.
