I'm thinking he isn't old enough for the G league under their current rules. I did some digging and asking around a month or so ago and came to the conclusion his only options for next season are high school or Auburn. I can't say that's for sure but that's the way I'm remembering.

Not going to dismiss your thoughts but I’ve read speculation from elsewhere that he could play there but have to play two years before being eligible for the draft. Which that wouldn’t help him any.

I'm trying not to get hyped. From what I've seen, Scoot would maybe take this team to the next level.

If Scott went college could he still be 1 and done? That might help us out.

If true, then the same would apply to college as well. It will likely come down to what kind of contract is the G-League offering and where does he think he will develop/build his brand the most. The state name, image, and likeness ruling should have helped us.

I realize we are all still guessing, until we specifically know his birthdate, but if he turns 18 next year by the Gleague deadline, then he could skip college this year, play GL next year, and then the following year be eligible for the 2023 NBA draft since he will have turned 19 in the year of the draft, which is the only requirement for age.

By this then he would not have to play GL 2 years....

Yeah I think we even had a CB or 2, then next thing I knew he listed his top 8 and we weren't in it haha

I finally got some clarification. He is too young to play in the G League next season but that isn't what he is being offered. He is being offered by the G League Ignite which isn't a traditional team and thus not technically in the GL. They only play exhibitions

I would also imagine their compensation isn’t close to what Green and Kuminga got

I'm not sure about what he is being offered but the Ignite is the same team they play on as well. They didn't go through the draft process to play for any specific team. It's the draft that has the age requirement.

So who do the G league ignite play, if they are an exhibition team.

I can understand him enjoying getting paid and playing with some very good competition, but is that the priority for him? We don;t know his goals and whether playing college ball is something he wants to do...

So basically we still don't know...

It sounds like they still play a full schedule in the G League, but Ignite isn't affiliated with any specific NBA team. There's a core group of veteran players on Ignite which are then surrounded by the elite high school prospects. Any NBA team can sign one of the veterans on Ignite at any time, but they can't touch the prospects. After the first season is complete for the prospects, they go to the draft where they could end up on an NBA team or a different G League team. All players on Ignite are eligible to play in any game on the schedule (I think)

Scoot is in the same situation as Green and Kuminga were in last year. So now we sit and wait for a decision

That’s right. I didn’t realize they were an exhibition team.

Dang Jones thanks for underselling our wide girth and strong stature.

Jon Rothstein
@JonRothstein
Former Kentucky commit Nolan Hickman is down to Auburn, Gonzaga, and Kansas, per his father. An official announcement is expected in the next few weeks.

One of the top point guards in the 2021 class.

Still surreal to me to see Auburn mentioned in the same sentence as blue bloods and elite basketball programs.

And I'm just saying, college basketball recruiting is some greasy shite. I'm all in, but we aren't baking cookies here gents. I'm on board.
