My guess would be regardless of what Cooper does that we get a PG transfer from juco/GT. The NCAA also needs to give some answers on if our self imposed punishment is enough or what to expect. The limbo that they play in some of these instances is why the P5 will dump the NCAA in the near future plus the amount of revenue they get from the shares of the conferences is crazy. Never agreed with Bear Bryant but he saw the writing on the wall in the 80s and tried to dump the NCAA for a football only body called the CFA. Some teams even joined and had the little triangle badge on their uniforms but never had enough support from academia.

Yep, I would suspect we were always gonna grab a PG. if Cooper leaves, I could see us potentially going after two.

I heard JBoy on a local sports talk show, and his 'source(s)' told him that Powell's leaving had something to do with who was coming in at guard next year and that Sharife would be coming back, and that Powell didn't like 'NOT' being the top dog at guard next year.
He did a podcast specifically on Justin Powell and I don’t remember him saying any of this.

With the high end list of suitors reaching out to him (including Baylor and Gonzaga), I’m starting to feel “opening up recruitment” vibes, Not medical.

I feel this decision is mostly his parents.

In a 247 interview Justin said this:

"My family and I want to wait a few weeks for teams to finish up their seasons and then see what rosters are looking like so we can make a decision with as much information as possible," he told 247Sports. "As of now it [my recruitment] is open. I feel blessed that these programs have reached out to me and I am excited about the future."

"I’m looking for a program with a winning culture that is going to put me in the best position to maximize my potential," he said.

Free article.

Hate to break it to him but he just left a program that offered that.

What a strange situation.

Sounds like he may be a culture problem in it for himself. Good player. Best of luck kid. Probably best to just keep the yapper shut now though.

Go on now get!

That makes me think he doesn’t like all of the competition Auburn has now and will have next year.

could be, his stock going up might have them looking to cash in now or in a few years. Sounds like he doesnt want to compete and got a little big headed. Saying he is going to wait to see what all rosters look like before deciding. Wish him the best

This.

None of this makes sense. More is obviously happening behind the scenes

Not completely.

Would love landing that dude. He's very good. But I'm not getting my hopes up on every transfer like I did last year when we struck out on every single one

Have we talked about Tyty Washington? King @247 says Auburn is targeting him.

No, that would be an amazing get though. High level player but doesn't appear to be one and done. As of the rankings right now, if we landed him we would have a top 5 class.

I'd like to see us add Scoot regardless of what Cooper does. He can play the 2 when they are both on the court together. It's the only way we could possibly get 2 years out of him short of an injury imo. He can play the point in 2022 when Cooper is gone. He isn't draft eligible until 2023 so if he can get the credits this summer and is open then it's a no brainer.

For sure. If the grades are there, it seems like an easy decision if you are confident about where you want to play.
