Cooper 6-23 today 2-6 from 3 and zero FTs

thats way to many shots.

He's got to drive and kick it back out or dish if he sees it. He forced it way too many times.

Bruce after the game basically said this is the problem w the team:

1. still making the same mistakes they have early in the year.
2. Too many TOs has been too consistent.
3. Defense is still not there. To give up 50 points in the 2nd half is a lack of disciplined defense.
4. Bench didn't help today.
5. Sharife avgs 9 FTs a game. He got ZERO today on who knows how many drives to the basket.

Overall this team still makes to many unforced mistakes with the ball. FLanigan has most of them it seems...

Yeah this is where Cooper needs to improve. Miss the guy that’s red hot for basically the win.

And Kentucky just simply played ball over the top his head... he'd have to figure that part out first.

Agree.

Cooper can't finish at the rim against teams that have NBA length... like UK. He'll have to figure that out and stop turning the ball over 4 times a game.

He will have more space in the NBA. A lot more space. Teams will factor that in when he goes lottery this year

.

You have to be able to knock down 3's to play in the NBA...........even the big's can do it.

Wait, wasn't it a 3 pt game when Sharife took this shot? Even if he sees Thor, and Thor makes it, it is a tie game, not a winning shot.

Hopefully Sharife learns how to find his teammates more as he matures.
From what i heard or read, I think Pearl drew up a 2 pt play for Sharife, but not sure if Pearl also told him to look for open guys on the perimeter.
And still not sure why Pearl didn't draw up a 3 pt shot anyway. I guess he wanted a high percentage shot, and then time to either steal or foul and take a chance on 1 or 2 misses at the FT line.

You’re right it was a three point game. Makes it even worse.

This is bad too if true. They hadn’t put Sharife on the line all game and he wasn’t finishing inside well. No reason to think you’ll get a foul call in that situation.

Yeah. I agree with going for the two as the primary play. With 25 seconds left you’ve got time to take a higher percentage shot and put pressure on them to inbound and hit FTs.

I agree. Even tv analysts, say when there is a minimum 20 secs to play there is plenty of time to just attempt a better percentage shot such as a 2.

But as someone else said, Sharife, most of game was NOT getting his shot off or getting fouled. If you look at the still shot of him going up, every other Au player was on the perimeter, so his best bet was to drive and find the most open perimeter AU player.

And KY knew to keep the Center near the basket along w the guard handling Sharife.

Not responding to anyone in particular but I'm really excited about this team for next year, moreso if Cooper returns.

As I go back and look at the season, if AU would have just been a tiny bit more efficient on offense, took care of the basketball a tiny bit better and committed 2-3 less turnovers per game we'd possibly have four more wins. Oh so close. If we didn't have mental lapeses on defense there may be six more wins.

I think nine of thirteen on the AU roster are Fr/So, with two difference-makers coming in for next season. Giddy up.

**Random prediction: If JT Thor puts on 20 lbs of good weight in the off-season he'll be a lottery pick. He's the perfect player for the current NBA.

Auburn women are down double digits to Alabama at home. Flo is about to finish a winless conference season. No chance she survives this and she shouldn’t

Their 3 remaining games are hopeless. This was their last legit chance

I thought it was through 2023 for her. But I was ready for her to go when she got her extension.

Yes, she still has 2 years left on her contract, 21-22 and 22-23 years.

She will hold the distinction of being the only AU women's coach to never win an SEC game since AU women's basketball started over 38 years ago.

I think the boom was for Gus. In other news:

Justin Ferguson
@JFergusonAU
Auburn HC Bruce Pearl says there could be a delay for the Tigers' game tomorrow night vs. Mississippi State. Weather has been bad around Starkville. The teams are still awaiting final word.

"It's all weather-related."

Ramone says the boom isn’t about Gus so we can confirm the boom was about Gus.

Does Jalen Green's announcement that we were the choice restore Ramone's e-cred?
