That's from Stephen Hooks on IT AT

You can find his name under the $500,000+ Talon Society which primarily goes towards basketball

So basically we’ll know tomorrow if they’re going to fire Bruce.

Thing is Bruce has very little leverage in this... his coaching career is likely over if we fire him.

This was avoidable if some people would use some common sense... or if Person wasn’t a complete and total asswipe.

Nah, this is the 3rd time AU has threatened. It is hard to believe AU has enough donor support to make this happen tomorrow because it either requires buyout (no support) or legal clusterfrick (last thing Leath wants)

What is more likely is we start seeing a lot of Schlabach esque bullshite about basketball Trickle out, Wiley/Purifoy held out and BBall recruiting tank due to investigation

It will turn into a game of attrition, where either they find cause or they wreck Bruce's image for donors to agree to fire him

Put it this way, it shouldnt be surprising that every time they've threatened Pearl to cooperate or get fired something comes out

1 Time- News/Slam piece that Pearl refuses to "cooperate" leaked which Pearl seems to be in the right on

2 Time- Frankie / Other guy suspended, never told what for and "sources" claim for vague "similar/related to Chuck Person investigation"

3rd Time- Marcello + Others alluding to Auburn uncovering things on AU assistants potentially Pearl etc

Eventually fans/boosters will either believe it or so worn down that they're ready to move on than deal w this mess

In addition to above, they let Bruce do Tiger Talk. Hard to believe they'd let that fly

I have a hard time believing they fire Bruce during IB week. I could see it being the nail in the coffin for a later date

The only problem I have with Bruce is that you read about all the other head coaches at USC, Arizona, and Oklahoma State saying they’re cooperating with the internal investigation by each school. It was leaked by AU, but Bruce is the only one not cooperating.

First there is no official word on any of these coaches "fully cooperating" Keep in mind that Hooks alleged AU declined a "mini interview"

Second, these schools are trying to save their coach + programs

USC- Private Institution, no choice

Zona- Zona would take penalties before firing Sean Miller

Okie St- 1st yr head coach whose tenure doesn't overlap w Lamont Evans alleged issues

Based on some of the very un-presidental replies Leath has been sending to people who have emailed him, I don't think he was expecting the amount of support Pearl has been getting and is not happy. He may be realizing how bad an idea following through with this threat would be and I hope he is.

Look, if Bruce is caught up, he deserves to be fired and I'll go buy a pitchfork

I'm just saying I've heard from friends in the AD that Samford decided to clean house and start over without Bruce. Now Hooks is parroting the same thing. This is a kangaroo court investigation

Id be sad but I could accept a "Parting ways w Bruce due to history + failure to monitor. Pay buyout + not trash him"

This is just F ing bullshite

Instead we have somebody responding to emails to leath's emails account is a very unprofessional manner.

I get if Bruce is involved then that's cause to fire him. If he's not why the hell would you want to? I mean we haven't been super successful yet, but people enjoy basketball now and he's brought a spark to the program. I don't see why the AD would want to mess that up.

It's hard to pin down what exactly is driving this, but there are a few arguments that seem solid

The one I buy into is that Auburn feels wronged that Bruce is pulling this Garrity Rights and not cooperating. They don't believe Bruce will ever act in good faith with AU regarding future problems. It's kind of a ridiculously self centered view, given that almost any sane person prioritizes not going to jail over employment

There also is the problem that Bruce is a coach w a losing record who is effectively untouchable. What happens if Bruce ever wins? He will be the most powerful figure on campus

Based on emails he sent last night, I think we have a president who is an idiot.

I couldn't be more angry about this situation.. mainly due to Jordan Verhulst and Frankie's situation.

I’m not even sure why we hired this guy as President. Wonder if he’s borrowed any AU planes yet?
