So the NET is out for today & we dropped 5 spots to 25 after the Road W last night.

Just saw that. Continuing to drop in kenpom as well.

I figured the kenpom drop was coming but I’m shocked at the NET drop. They are gonna have to release that formula at some point lol

Meh, we keep winning, even ugly, we will come out fine.

Next five games will tell us a lot about this team. Going to be a tough grind.

Agreed. If can get 3 or 4 of these 5 we are in great shape. Even just 2 will keep our head above water.

They released it in an article last year before the 1st NET rankings ever came out. Now whether they add mitigating factors to it I have no idea.

The fact that kenpom has wisconsin (12-9), michigan (12-8) and purdue (11-10) ahead of auburn makes it a complete joke.

They laid out the basic components of it but it was pretty vague.

It's a predictive ranking system. I personally wouldn't think we would be a clear favorite over any of those teams on a neutral court as of today so it makes sense. Now as far as resumes go, we are head and shoulders above those three.

The way we’ve been playing how could anyone argue with the KenPom ranking?

Glad to get the win, getting to the NCAAT this year will be a success. Based on our performances away from home lately I don’t have any expectations for winning in March, but still some time to figure something more reliable out on offense.

I’m not worried about the Polls anymore. Just want to finish the season out in a way that breeds optimism for next year. Hopefully round of 32. Optimism leads to hype and recruits eat the shite out of that. If we free-fall like our signed receivers in the final 247 recruiting rankings, the kids see that as well.

Shariffe Cooper has already said he’s going to be having discussions with the players he’s recruiting at the McDonald’s AA game, but we need to do our part. Prevent losing streaks. If we lose one. Win the next one. And so on.

These are my feelings about this season as well. No more losing streaks. Win an SEC tourney game, win an NCAA tourney game.

A Memphis freefall would bode well too.

Auburn has played only 5 games vs Kenpom top 75 opponents and is (3-2)

Wisconsin has 6 wins vs Kenpom top 75 opponents.

In a team quality ranking, you should not get rewarded for consistently beating bad opponents by ~5pts.

Efficiency metrics like KenPom sees only a small marginal difference between a 1pt win vs Ole Miss and a 1pt loss. They care about the fact that Auburn struggled vs a team ranked #116

So Auburn has recently struggled vs Ole Miss, ISU, Vandy and was blown out by ~20+ to Bama/UF. You watch that and think, "This looks like a top 30 team to me."

That's crazy considering we had two games I felt were pretty good performances (@MSU, Georgia)
Pretty dang bad in the other 5 though to make up for it.
It's a miracle we are 5-2.

This.

Have to remember this is a major rebuilding year. Sucks that Okoro may be one-and-done, but we are just marking time this season.

Hate to say it but I think next year will be a rebuilding year too even if we hit on most of our targets & more talented overall. 11 or 12 of the 13 players will be Sophs or freshman & 1 then upperclassmen will have little PT before next season.

if the class stands as is then I agree. If we add Green and a 5 like Sotto then that changes our expectations significantly.
