UVA I believe was #1 or close to it then won it all

Because the refs can not identify a double dribble.

Sparty started the NCAA tournament with a NET of 8. UVA started the tournament with a NET of 1

#7 is a lot higher than I thought we would be...I guess I was expecting somewhere closer to #15.

kentucky at #58. Duquesne and Liberty both in the top 20. A lot will shake out over the coming weeks. Our first loss will probably knock us down a good bit. Still, great to be in the top 10.

We will learn a lot on Thursday. NC State lost by 5 at Memphis, won by 9 at Wake and Beat Wiskie by 15 at home.

I'm not too worried about it. We don't have a marquee win, so I get it. We also didn't bring in a headline prospect.
(okoro is great but not nationally known) We aren't a typical bball brand like with football. We have to earn the benefit of the doubt with the voters. We can start Thursday.

Human polls are meaningless in basketball regardless

A guy who is projected to be a 1st round pick by many people as Okoro is right now as a true freshman is nationally known. He may not be the sexiest player since his O game is still developing though.

I think he just means in national perception. Unless you have a top 10 recruit, the typical AP voter has no clue who your dynamic freshmen is until he makes a name for himself on a marquee stage. Okoro isn't a top 10 recruit and he hasn't made a name for himself on a marquee stage.

AP voters aren't NBA scouts.

Still in our situation trying to build the brand it's good for the program to be ranked highly.

Don't underestimate how little AP poll voters pay attention to CBB outside their viewing pocket. Not all CBB fans are huge on the NBA let alone NBA draft mocks in December

There weren't any great angles that really showed how great a putback it was. Under hoop + half court angles weren't great tbh

Top 10 likes having something more on your face impressive

Has anyone mentioned how Chris Porter-esque that putback was?

It was right up there with the Porter dunk honestly. I've seen some awesome dunks in person and that one was up there. The TV angles truly did it no favor.

I also think that is why Thursday is an important game. An ACC opponent and a chance to remain undefeated. Being undefeated late gets a lot of attention

Yeah, I wish there was a camera positioned right where the ref was standing left of the basket. The cameras were positioned so high in that arena, it creates an angle that doesn't do that dunk justice.

I had a perfect view of it from the other side of the court. Where the ball first made contact with his hand was a good 7 ft from the rim. Still can't believe he got the ball to the rim from where he took off from.
