I respect those comments, but I have been reading about him for a while, and I just have a strong gut feeling we are not even going to be in his final 2.

I have seen too many times where a recruit(in football too), is pretty solid to another team, or maybe 2 really strong leans, and then Auburn gets in the picture and we get them on OV or even UOVs, and we think we have a very good chance, but in the end, we are not even on the table w/ our hats.

I think Kessler will continue to have a very strong lean to where his family has gone, and then there is Duke.

Hard to beat one, much less 2 strong leans....

Hooks says Kessler’s family has a house on Lake Martin among other things working well for Auburn.

He also said Greg Brown’s dad loves Auburn and kept encouraging Brown to look into Auburn. Brown didn’t believe him until the final four run.

Also said Boston loves playing with Shariffe.

This is all good good news. I find myself not wanting to read the football recruiting forum anymore and just focus on the basketball forum these days.

Kessler's brother lived there when interning for a Law Firm in Opelika a while back. According to a guy I know whose son plays on Kessler's HS team, that lake house isn't a big deal. Says Bruce's son is literally at any/every function he can be at for Kessler. Kessler's dad isn't big on the "salesy" nature of Bruce, but does like him.

His dad has gone through the recruiting process before so he won't be thrown off by coach-wow kinda recruiting.

They do like Bruce's style of offense for a big man that can play an outside 5.

This guy made it sound like the top Academic schools were the early priority (Duke UNC) but lots of UGA ties (dad). This guy is a Clemson and UF homer tho so may be AU-hating

FAYETTEVILLE — Because of an injury suffered in his season opener last Thursday night, Arkansas 2019 basketball recruiting target Javon Franklin will not play at Goodman (Miss.) Holmes Community College the rest of 2018-2019 campaign. Holmes head coach Jason Flanigan said Wednesday that Franklin (6-6, 200) will concentrate solely on his rehab from a broken bone in his leg and thus have three years at his next stop. “He is out of the hospital and back on campus and the surgery went well,” Flanigan said of his fellow former Little Rock Parkview standout.

“It is anywhere from a 6-12 week rehab, but he will not play in a Holmes jersey again. “The right thing to do is let him take all the time he needs with his rehab, get him healthy and then let him have three years to play on the next level.”

Franklin has offers from Arkansas, Memphis, Missouri, Auburn and San Diego State and plans to sign in the spring of 2019. He averaged 10.8 points and 6.2 rebounds as a freshman at Holmes while leading the 24-5 team to the National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas, last season. Franklin was 3-of-3 from the floor and had six points, two rebounds and two blocks in Holmes' 88-75 win over Copiah-Lincoln before suffering the injury 11 minutes into the game while trying to take a charge. “It’s very disappointing for him, but the right thing to do is just to look forward and do what is best for his future,” Flanigan said.

Just watched tape on him. Crazy athleticism and a really good frame. Could play the 3 or 4. Has a legitimate back to the basket game. Not sure he can shoot but looks like a good piece.

Bruce is truly a god.

Jaden Springer - #11 overall and #3 shooting guard from IMG Academy taking an official visit next weekend - LINK along with Jayden Stone - LINK

Greg Brown will be back next Wednesday for an unofficial.

9 Recruits here for Big Cat - I think Bruce is calling it a "Fish Fry" for basketball recruits. Confirmed that both Cooper AND Boston will be here along with a couple of other recruits, and obviously Kessler on his official.

I mean that's FIVE 5 stars visiting over a 7 day span + a couple highly ranked 4 stars - 6 out of the top 48 recruits in the nation. I know I joked about Bruce big dicking Gus on his own recruiting weekend, but it's actually happening.

EDIT: Apparently we're feeling really good about this Franklin guy and we're hoping to lock him up in the very near future. Immediately eligible, though I don't know how recovered he is from the broken leg.

Here's an article on it.

Auburn adds JUCO Transfer Javon Franklin

quote:

Auburn is adding another player to its 2019-20 basketball roster with Javon Franklin committing to the Tigers on Friday.

The six-foot-seven, 218-pound forward from Holmes (Mississippi) Community College and Parkview High in Little Rock told Inside the Auburn Tigers that he is going to play for the Tigers and plans to move to Auburn in June to begin classes.

“Auburn is the place I will be attending and I feel like it is a good fit for me,” Franklin said.

“I like the style of play and I like how Coach (Bruce) Pearl cares about his players,” Franklin said. “I also like how Coach Pearl uses his forwards.”

As a JUCO freshman Franklin averaged 10.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, but was only able to play in one game this season due to suffering a broken bone in his leg. He was recently cleared medically and will enroll at Auburn with three years of eligibility.

“I am not rushing into full contact yet,” said Franklin, who developed a reputation as a strong defender in high school and junior college. “I am working to get my quads and stuff back to normal. In a few more months I will be ready for full contact.”

Franklin was the MVP of Parkview High’s 2016-17 squad as he averaged 16 points, 8.7 rebounds per game playing for Al Flanigan, the father of Auburn assistant coach Wes Flanigan, who recruited Franklin for the Tigers.

Commenting on his official visit to Auburn this week, the prospect said, “I enjoyed everything and spent a lot of time with the coaches and they showed me a good time.”

Franklin, who graduated from junior college on May 10th, said that the coaches told him they will use him in a similar role they used Chuma Okeke this past season.

“I am excited and ready to go to work,” he said. “I think we are going to have another good team this year.”

Asked what other colleges he considered, Franklin said, “West Virginia, Memphis, ECU and Oklahoma State."

1. Jvon/Turbo
2. Samir/Johnson
3. Okoro/Flanigan/Franklin
4. Purifoy/Williams/Akingbola/Franklin
5. Wiley/Mclemore/Akingbola

Lots of talent but we really could use some 3 pt shooting

Noice. McCormick was also unranked when we added him from JUCO, and I think Dunbar was too. Pearl really knows how to pick JUCO guys

That is a lot of athleticism on that roster. They will be very fun to watch if nothing else.

There will be some lineups we can play that have a chance to be incredible defensively.
