I just wasn't ready to write them off as not being Kentucky anymore like you and GeneChin were. They are still the standard in the SEC.

UK had their best offensive game of the year and only won by 2pts against an AU team that played around their average.
This UK team is going 10-8, maybe 11-7 in SEC play. They are nothing like the old SEC dominating Cal teams

still recruiting at a high level.

UK is not recruiting near the pace that they used to. We've been over this, there is a massive dropoff from a top 5-10 ranked 5* to a 15-25 ranked 5*

If you think I'm spewing nonsense, just listen to actual NCAAB professional opinions on the "One Shining Podcast" NCAAB preview podcast where they actively talk about UK not recruiting at the level they used to

Our “reality check”:
We’re lucky to get out of here alive," UK coach John Calipari said. "We’re lucky he missed that little shot."

It was also our first loss at home. It was a marquee game and Kentucky showed up..

Well, so far they are 4-1..

The SEC has improved since then with the influx of better coaches. Also, those rare classes with 4 of the top 5 players in a class committing to one school isn't the norm and not sustainable over a period of time. That's what made those few classes so great.

You're right, we have been over this.. and your definition of massive dropoff are players like Shai Alexander, who was ranked 30th in his class, played one season, drafted in the first round and a starter as a rookie in the NBA right now. Kentucky has had SIX PLAYERS in the last TWO classes play one season and in the NBA right now. Tyler Herro was the 37th ranked player by 247 this past class and Kentucky's worst recruit by recruiting standards in a decade. How'd he look Saturday? Kentucky is still Kentucky in recruiting and on the floor. They still have a team full of five stars.

I don't think it is nonsense, just debatable.. they still have Calipari and they're still Kentucky.

It's an interesting conversation. Those type of historic classes aren't sustainable and basketball blue bloods share those recruits most years, so it ebbs and flows.. How many Fab 5 classes did Michigan have? Kentucky still recruits really well.. should I share their most recent classes?

Reality is that they have a "W" and we have an "L" and we need to learn how to win big games more consistently..

Their 3 other wins are vs UGA, TAMU and Vandy who are currently a combined 2-13 in SEC play

Not all 5* are ready to play like 5 stars and/or be relied upon as FR. My point is that UK mostly has guys that fill the "developmental" 5* while lacking their traditional veteran(s) to offset the inconsistencies

UK looks to be scary good next year assuming they don't have unusual fringe draft departure candidates, but they simply are not built to be consistently good this season hence 10-8 / 11-7

It is the same reason the went 10-8 last year

You probably don't want to use the kid whose poor, inconsistent play already played a huge part in 2 of their losses

Kentucky still recruits really well.

They do, but UK traditionally won every recruiting battle with only the rare loss to a blue blood / unique situation

UK now has shown cracks in recruiting that are only amplified when you consider they are for the first time returning depth/starters in the Cal era

Agreed, but I'm more worried about big road/neutral games where we have struggled for years

Outside the UTk win last season, I can't think of many meaningful games we've won away from home

We're splitting hairs at this point..

I asked how did Tyler Herro look Saturday.. And you say he played a part in a loss or two, to Duke no less..

I said Kentucky is 4-1 in SEC play.. And you say because they've played no one besides just beating us at home, even though they've also beaten teams like North Carolina at neutral sites.

The truth is in the middle. Mandela Effect

Right. Kentucky barely beat Auburn without Wiley. That’s where they are and where we are.

He played like shite vs Seton Hall and Bama

He is a shooter who was 32% 3FG before the AU game. He had one good game in a disappointing season

WTF is your point? That because Herro had one great game that negates his overall average and inconsistent play this season?

Blake Bortles threw for 4TD / 376yds in a W vs the Patriots this season. Does that make him a good QB too?

I feel good about tonight. I think they team wants to rebound hard after UK, and this is our return to Columbia after Mac's injury last season. I think that game still stings to the team.

USCe wants to play physical too, and we are going to have to match it. We don’t want to be down huge at their place again.

Its too early to tell on Herro. He is a freshman and most play up and down their first year. I remember Heron being up and down his freshman year.

You could tell he simply was feeling it in our game, and the confidence simply grew. Next game he may go 0-5.
HE was guarded I think by Harper, who I felt didn't do a very good job on him. We shut down Hagans, who was their best guard, but you have to play the other players hard too, since they are all good.

Maybe you missed the game but my point is exactly what i said.. Herro lit us up. There have been ups and downs. Still, his worst games like you mentioned against Bama and Seton Hall, he still scored in double figures and scored 24 points in a Louisville win. He also had a good game against UNC. What do you really expect anyway.. he is a TRUE FRESHMAN. WTF is your point?

Great comparison.. an experienced NFL QB and a True Freshman in college. Smh.. so you think Tyler Herro isn't any good? Is that what you're trying to say?

I missed most of the beginning. How the heck are we at 8 fouls in under 5 minutes?

This is the worst officiated 5 minutes of basketball I’ve ever watched.

More fouls than shot attempts.
