If you don't realize that UK has had an absolutely massive dropoff in recruiting, I don't know what to tell you.

There is a big dropoff between a top 5 recruit 5* and a Mustapha Heron type 5*. UK has been targeting top 5 players in the past two classes (2017 + 2018) and struck out at every turn. Same story for even 2019 as well. It is showing up on the court as well. UK doesn't have the talent of teams in the past.

The day he reclassified, AU was effectively eliminated. UK didn't impact that. We not only couldn't guarantee starter minutes, we would have a tough sell for 15+ min w our backcourt

I don’t quite understand the negative ramifications as it relates to Auburn of the new recruiting rules but 247 isn’t a fan:

Not sure if it has any specific impact on AU, but the rule changes seem somewhat stupid

You’d think they do one of the regional camps in Atlanta.

NBAdraft.net currently has Wiley and Okeke going in round 1. Those of you familiar know that site isn't some make or break source but it does usually give you a general idea of where things stand as they update it weekly.

As much as it would suck to have to replace guys this year it would be huge for Pearl and the program to have some guys in the league so it's not a total loss either way.

Regardless, it's still December and in my eyes it's hard to believe a team would use a first round draft pick on Austin Wiley.

Would be really hard to replace both Wiley / Spencer in the post. Would almost be forced to bring in a JUCO / Grad transfer I'd guess

For now though, Wiley/Okeke are sloted #30/#28, which aren't typically "declare early" slots

Robert Williams was a projected lottery pick a couple years ago if I remember correctly and stayed. You never know.

Didn’t he get drafted in the late 20’s?

Okeke needs to start playing like a first rounder. He plays too timid.

But he is a complete dumbass. Probably didn’t leave a great impression with teams. I think he missed his introductory press conference with the Celtics from oversleeping.

Yeah the talent is there for Okeke and from what I understand he works hard in the gym. And it’s not that he doesn’t play hard in games we just need him attacking more. It will benefit us as a team and him personally.

Providing any type of evidence to support your claims would be a good start. Like I've already referenced, Kentucky has had 3 players in each of the last 2 classes, leave after one year and drafted into the NBA.

I understand the difference but that is your idea of an absolute massive dropoff? Shai Alexander was ranked 30th in his class, one and done last season, drafted in the Top 15 and playing in the NBA right now. You talk in absolutes when it is obviously fluid.

Maybe, maybe not but they're still Kentucky, with a team full of 5*. I wouldn't write off Kentucky basketball just yet if I were you. You do realize they just beat North Carolina, right? It is amazing what one loss on the court and losing a couple of Top 5 recruits to Duke in recruiting, will do to a program apparently..

Interesting.. was UK eliminated? Or were they the reason he reclassified? In your mind, is Ashton Hagans a top 5 5* or did they settle for a Heron 5*?

To be fair, Duke played true freshman players that Kentucky really wanted (3 at least) and mud stomped Kenfricky’s more experienced group. This is after years of Calipari being regarded as the top recruiter in the nation. He recently lost a recruit that he wanted to Memhis as well resulting in Calipari calling himself an overrated recruiter. I guess Kentucky can turn it around but this isn’t tbe Kentucky that I’m used to seeing.

That is fair.. but i look at it as one game. UK will be a much different team come February. I don't consider Calipari losing the very elite talent to Duke recently as a critical issue. Did people say the same about Coach K when Kentucky did the same? It is Duke and Kentucky. I understand the trend but it happens and goes back and forth, even with the other blue bloods in the mix like UNC and Kansas.

I'm not going to post Calipari's recruiting record but it is staggering.

I know. I literally just said that for years he was known as the nation’s top recruiter. Which makes his struggles relative to his usual complexing.

No. Coach K has always been the better coach and had his own way of doing things. They’re just now beating Kentucky at Cal’s own game.

You win though. Getting bored with the conversation.
