Well, I heard Stan is actually his uncle so it's not much of a stretch.

I do believe SW is the best QB for us but that's not saying much. The competition is pretty shitty tbh.

its the pic SW painted with his balls. I thought that was at Trent Dilfer's house. I'm team SW simply for his artistic balls.

a gif of you scratching where balls usually rest is not in the same league as SW's ball art.

I remember the good old days when we rolled from Stan White to Pat Nix to D Craig. There was a time you could count on Auburn for solid QB play, a great run game, and quality SEC defense every game.

Maybe you don't remember it as well as you think you do.

I don't think he meant QB running game. See, way back, Auburn used to run the ball primarily with RBs and not QBs.

I know exactly what he meant.

Our top 2 RBs in 1997 were Rusty Williams and Demontray Carter. They finished the season with 588 yards and 7 TDs, combined, over 13 games.

To put that in perspective, Tre Mason rushed for 663 yards and 6 TDs in the last three games of his collegiate career, against teams that were ranked #1, #5 and #1 at the time the games were played.

In 2013, AU rushed for more yards (2874) in its final 8 games (including the SEC and BCS Championships) than in the 26 games Dameyune Craig started as QB over two seasons (2841).

Hell, last year, Peyton Barber rushed for more yards BY HIMSELF, despite sharing carries with Jovon, Roc and KJ, than the entire AU running back corps in '97.

Far from being 'great', the AU run game under Dameyune was historically awful. In fact, the 1997 SEC West Champions were AU's worst rushing team (76.5 yards per game) in at least the last 40 years, if not longer. Worse by a significant margin than '98, '08, '12, or any other disastrous offensive season you can think of.

ETA: Just checked last year's national rankings, and the worst rushing team in FBS, #128 Washington State, finished the year averaging 4 yards per game MORE than AU '97. It was worse than I thought.

Yeah, once Tot took a shite on Stephen Davis's final season, from that point on the run game was non-existent.

And the run game that Tot did have from 1993-95 was a vestige of Dye recruiting.

Markeith Cooper, Rusty Williams... I have never seen a running game go from powerhouse to that anemic so fast in my life.

For JJ to start, he would have to be so much better than the other options that it is not really a competition.

We all saw him at game time last year.

I think White is probably the safer bet right now, but I am sure (actually---scratch that --- hope) they are working on a strong plan B.

Craig was our entire offense in '97. I always tell myself that if we had a few players around Craig then that team could have been special. Instead DC ran around creating plays with his legs & his arm. Our defense in '97 wasn't that special either. I remember them letting us down in big moments TBH.

Yea, the D got progressively worse under Tot as well. Less D, No run game but we could throw it.
