Should we really be worried about Pearl to Louisville?

I know it’s talked about in the basketball thread but multiple reports say he is extremely interested. Why would he leave what he’s built here? Louisville is obviously a better all time program but what we have right now is top 5 in the nation in fan support. I can’t see us not paying him whatever Louisville would. Thoughts?

He may be trying to get more $. Auburn should give him whatever he wants.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Louisville offers him $8 million, which is double what Auburn is giving him now.

Petino was making close to $8 Million in 2016 there.

ETA: Auburn knows there will be lots of Revenue coming with the new TV Deal too (Should be over $20mil/year increase to each school). They’ll probably raise face value of Basketball tickets after seeing what folks will pay to go this year.

I am not worried in the least.

My question for leaving is...........why? He would not get fan support anywhere better than here. He has proven he can compete with anybody in the nation here. This was an article from some nobody.............did you notice most of his candidates were a threat to UK?

Absolutely not. Bruce said he wanted to make his legacy here at Auburn when he was first hired and i dont take him to be a liar.

No

Louisville has no president or AD and they are still under a very dark cloud with the NCAA.

I don’t believe it’s a Bruce destination at all.

Fake news.

At the end of the day, if he leaves he leaves. We always overpay based on nothing.

Bruce has produced and deserves to be rewarded. I believe he will be our coach until he retires.

I was just for the fact that this shite happens every time one of my pro teams or Auburn have had major success in anything. Look at Freddie Freeman. They're really going to botch resigning him over an extra year on his contract? Braves will be stuck to mediocrity for a long time because less than a handful of dumbasses. If Pearl's agent has been bullshitting around, it's for leverage. If the PTB botch something like this, I'm done with team sports.

He’s about to turn 62 years old and doesn’t strike me as one itching to move. His entire family except for like one daughter resides in Auburn. His wife owns a business here. He’s built an empire, why risk leaving that at his age?

We’re building a new men’s basketball facility which was one of his needs. He also should be paid bc he has earned it.

If Auburn doesn’t give him what he wants, yes.

Auburn needs to promise a basketball only facility and a pay raise for not only him but all his assistants. Point blank: Give him what he wants.

And Auburn needs to do whatever needs to be done to get the rumors to die, like, tomorrow. This doesn’t need to drag on.

And go ahead and tell him that when he retires, the next home game will feature a ceremony naming Bruce Pearl Court at Auburn Arena.
If Pat Dye deserves to have his name on the football field, Bruce Pearl deserves his on the basketball court.

in leveraging an opportunity to get a raise and improved facilities. Even though it is a better basketball job in general, I would be really surprised if he left what he has built here to go rebuild there. I’m also not sure how good the job is at the moment with all the shite going on there.

Do we really not have a basketball only facility? What exactly does this mean when people are talking about it? Is it because volleyball also uses the arena so it’s not “basketball only”?

I mean...that's the only reason why he's our coach now

But yeah, there's no way in hell he leaves.
