This is the week of the season where you self evaluate what you've been doing all season. From my view point these are the top 3 things that need to show improvement over the next few games to get where we want to be.

Run blocking by the OL. Get better movement against your guy even if the box is stacked.

Better play by the linebackers outside of Zakoby. Especially the OLBs.

More aggressive play in zone and better tackling by the DBs.

We have a lot of areas that we need to improve on. It's hard to work full tackling in the season but making sure guys are getting to the spots on time is a good start.

What say you?

All I know is we have more TE receptions than we have had in a long time.

Landon King may be a star in the making.

I saw Pegues got more snaps as DT.

I thought our DBs would be play makers, but so far I bet they have been a little disappointed. Initially, I blamed it on lack of pass rush, but now it seems we are getting home more with Wooden, Hall, Leota, etc.

Wooten suuuuucks. I guess during that opt out season, he did anything but prep for football.

I don't think he sucks but at times he seems to have a hard time getting off of blocks.

Lets try not to attack specific players in this thread but approach it like a team game and how the team can get better over the rest of the season. Especially starting in this bye week.

1. A healthy Tank - running by a healthy committee of backs is a must; let him have the bye week to heal. And if need be sit him another week.

2. Better consistency this 'good week - bad week' mode is for the birds. Almost seems it takes a good arse-chewing for some and then it doesn't stick from week to week.
(ie: Controlling time of possession which will be key against the Ole Miss and Aggies.)

3. Have to keep stretching the field - even if an opponent is offering/trying to make us one dimensional.

All this right here. Shivers and Cowboy can easily split the load and there are other run options. RPO, designed draws, and fricking sneaks from under center on 3rd or 4th and short (3-4 yards or less, 4 down territory, let's say). There is no reason we can't make that work. NONE. Two plays, 4 yards max needed.

Seeing Tank run recently reminds me of Kerryon. He's just not....healthy.....enough....yet. Not 100% and I hate to see it and say it. Get healthy Tank and Owen!!

ETA - sorry, not sneaks. We will fricking line up and run your line and D over when it's 3 or 4th and short. I still believe there is a role for TJF and we may see it....when needed. And it will be needed and seen. It will come down to execution and every one of the 11 players on offense to do their fricking job. And there, you have the season. JMHO

Offense: we looked better against Arkansas in the pass game. We have good runners and will find a way to get some movement up front. Titrating the amount Bo runs is crucial. Need enough to keep them honest, but not so much that he gets injured. WR group will continue to improve. Focus on catch at all cost. A catch and fall is a gain unusually; a drop never is.

Defense: continue to develop pass rush. Get Pappoe back. Refine execution in coverage.

I think Tank is completely healthy I just don’t see any movement up front they aren’t missing a lot of blocks in the run game but aren’t getting any movement or push. Tank is trying to bounce out to get a few yards.

Did you notice on multiple run plays, the TEs shifted to the opposite side of where Tank was going? I understand using motion to try and fool the defense into over pursuing away from where the ball was actually going, but geez. That took away not one, but 2 lead blockers. And of course, the linebacker that would've been blocked by the TE comes in free and makes the tackle.

I don't think he is 100% Corch. I have seen a healthy Tank do that or run straight up the gut for 6 or 7 yards carrying people. And MUCH more. He is either not 100% or has something going on between his ears IMHO.

Some times moving the TE to the other shifts the line and LBs making it easier to block them. Think leverage.

Just like on Bo’s run to score the defense we had run the play earlier and Bo got about 6-7 years because someone missed a block but we knew when we went empty that they would counter with 5 in the box. 5 blockers 5 defenders. Bo beats safety in the open field TD

- We're seeing alot of 8 in the box.

- I want to see more 12 and 13 personnel to run the ball more. We've got great players and coaching in that TE group, so we can buffer the run blocking and still pass out of that personel grouping. I read somewhere that the TE group is leading the passing game with 12.1 ypc, even better than our recievers. Let's do that more.

- I think our D is settling down with more mixes of man with zone. Contionue to rep the zone because we're getting better. Also Harris and Leota are so damn productive that you have to give them more snaps. Leota has some sack stats but sets a good edge in the run game too. I'm not coach but those seem like no-brainers.

The number 1 thing we have to do on offense is figure out the LG position (I would add C to this, but Brahms is all we got).. Council has been bad this year. I don't know if playing Manning is the answer or if we should move Hamm there and play Trox or Coffey at RT, but we have to do something.

Number 1 thing on defense isn't really a personnel thing.. We have to get better on 3rd downs. We also need to figure out the N position too. Kaufman hasn't been good and Knighten is too slow to play there. Might be time to finally get Tennison on the field.

Tennison has been playing a lot of safety. Simpson at CB and Pritchett at NB. But may not make changes like that at this point in the season.

I’ve really like Ro Torrence as well. He’s a perfect fit for a zone corner with his speed and length not sure how good his tackling is an may be why he isn’t on the field as much. And what about Miller is he in the dog house or what I don’t think I’ve seen him even on special teams

We’ve been doing a good bit of RPO not much zone read but I’m sure we have it in. The first play of the game the out pass to Kobe Hudson was an RPO. WRs gotta make plays but thankfully they caught it ok this week. Baby steps.

The OL has to get some movement especially against the weaker DLs in the league. aTm’s defense ain’t no joke so better have something figured out by then.

Last game I didn't see Kaufman out there at all. We played Knighten some at N and other CBs like you said. Ro Torrence got in last game, I believe at N, so they are looking for someone to take that job.

You gotta think Miller regrets his decision. Wouldn't surprise me if he transfers again after the season.
