Also, I can't believe how openly you guys are devaluing the NCAAT.

How are we doing that when we are stumping the SEC tournament to prepare for the NCAAt

No, I'd rather win it than lose round 1 because I don't think it has nearly the negative impact people here think it does and history has shown that pretty conclusively based on that stat someone posted the other day.

I am all for winning it all if it seems possible. Stats do show that teams that win the NCAAt don't often win the conference tournament. Am I right?

Maybe you aren't but there multiple people in this thread who are.

I didn't fact check it but somebody the other day said it was basically 50/50 since 2000 or something like that. Considering there are only 5-6 major conference champions each year vs. probably 40 teams from major conferences in the NCAAT that didn't win their tournament the percentage of teams who won the NCAAT and their conference tournament is MUCH higher than teams that didn't.

Good Lord some people are dumb. We have played a tough schedule we have some bumps and bruises. Some teams have played easier schedules some of them are more healthy. Those are the breaks for any team.

You play to win the game!! Period!!!

If we get bounced in the SECT I will be disappointed. If we get bounced in the NCAA I will be disappointed.

But reality is in tournament basketball anything can happen. This expectation that it’s National championship or the season doesn’t mean anything is stupid. I want the title but nothing is deserved without winning it.

We are not the physically dominant team that can manhandle 3 teams in 3 days like the UConns can. Couple victories will be a teeth gnashing dogfights. I am not even going to address winning 3 in a row is easier than what we had to do in 2019 which was winning 4 or 5 in a row.

We are going to tax our bodies and could still measure short by a foot because we got guys banged up. Broome can barely jump for a rebound. We really just need to see how everything shakes out. Decisions need to be made with a singular focus on the NCAAt. I want the extra title of course. But that title is just a little extra stat padding compared to the NCAAt

I'm all in on the NCAA tournament, I'd be happy to win the sec as well but won't be broken up if we don't. I also don't think that trying to win it is going to negatively impact our NCAA chances so let's go try.

I hope we try to win it but also hope we don’t rush anyone back for it or play anyone crazy minutes like what Johni had today.

Should win comfortably against any of those. After that it gets much tougher.

The loss makes me hope we have enough juice to run through the SEC one more time.

We probably play Arkansas first but can hope for upsets along the way.

Our first round opponent in SECT will be similar in quality to who we will play in the round of 32. I hope we can demonstrate the ability to handle them on a neutral court without too much stress even if we don’t “want” the SECT championship as much as we will want the next tournament

Even Arky is risky. A team like Arky wants all that smoke in the SEC tournament because they are atoning for a slew of losses throughout the season.

Getting humbled could be a benefit because we were ranked number one for 8 weeks and have proven we are elite enough to beat most teams. We could die early or get hot.

Personally, I dont think the SECT will have any material impact, positive or negative, on the NCAAT for the team once it is all said and done.

However, if we lose next Friday, there will be a considerable amount of noise from media heads leading up to the big dance.

So, lets just go win the whole damn thing and shut everyone up.

Only playing a possible 3 games in a row is better than playing 4 or 5. After losing two in a row I am tired of losing
