So sounds like Wisconsin might already have their guy. Somebody who’s already an assistant there

I would agree with that, however Wisonsin I feel is going to Leonhard and take the interim tag off (which typically goes to not a cordinator) or they are going after Lance Leipold as he was a D2 coach up there for a while.

Auburn should have their pick of coaches just hope the new AD doesnt mess it up.

Does everyone agree we should join this list on Sunday? Does everyone know that it will be after thanksgiving before we hire a coach? Has anyone hired a coach mid-season?

Southern Miss had like 3 or 4 coaches in the middle of the 2020 Covid season.

Jay Hopson resigned after they lost to South Alabama, Scotty Walden was named interim. Then Walden left in the middle of the season to become Austin Peay's HC (they were playing in the Spring of 21), so Tim Billings was named Interim Interim HC. Then they hired Will Hall after the season.

Seems like they're giving him a shot, but another reason that job is open is because of the interest Leipold is getting, and there are probably people who want to bring him home.

It might be a game, but it is not entertaining. These days at least. It took a few years, but I would say around 2016 or so I was able to disconnect and I will just quit watching (or not watch at all).

Wisconson will pull from someone up there

I bet the interim, Jim Leonard, already has that job sewn up. That's how UW operates. He's been there for a long time and he's one of the best DCs in the country.

I have no idea what you mean by equal grounds

But Auburn 100% is a better job than Wisconsin despite how much we trash ourselves.

Just try not to get a card with a square that says "Touchdown Auburn!"

Especially if said square is limited to the 2nd half.
At that point you are screwed.

Lanier is definitely a glass half empty guy. He repeats the Updyke nation bs they spew about Auburn. The truth is, Auburn is a top 10-12 job in the country.

Not sure about 100%.

They are in one of the weakest divisions in P5, and will be getting a huge TV deal. Unless they end up having to face tOSU/UM/Pedo State every year under the new alignment, they should be in contention for the B1G title consistently.

That said, based on their hiring history they are even more iinbred than AU, if that’s possible. I don’t think we will have to worry about competing with them for this next hire, unless we both make a play for Aranda - in which case I think he would probably prefer us as I don’t think he’s much of a cold weather guy.

Being in a weak division does next to nothing in terms of ranking jobs.
