He makes some great points, especially at the end about the players needing us as fans even more than ever. Hopefully we as fans can hold up that end of the bargain, and keep showing up in full force.

Made good points. Can't disagree with anything he wrote.

Sadly, I doubt this is going to happen.

Best piece I've read on Auburn since the beginning of the year. Cheers to you Rob Pate.

. As Coach Chizik said after Arkansas, the fans didn't deserve what we got. I hope the players can never say the same about the level of support they receieve. These kids deserve our best, and during times like these is when they need it most.
I'd encourage everyone to give his closing words some thought as well.

I dont think that will be an issue. I know I drive 2.5 hours to every Auburn home game. I will be at all 4. I even just purchased two more tickets to the homecoming game so I can take a few friends along.

People will show up. They may bitch and gripe but they will show up.

Having the AU-aTm game as a 6 o'clock kick will help attendance by a good amount. Many will come into town just for the fun of tailgating all day followed by a night game

Great article. I especially agree on the point of "You can go out and play with reckless abandon, take chances, force the issue." That's the only way some of these kids will come out of this without being permanently demoralized.

Maybe, by some miracle, they will come out with a chip on their shoulder wanting to prove the world wrong against Vandy and aTm

And Jay Jacobs has been put in quite a bind by Coach Pat Dye's "he can lose them all" comment. He sticks with Gene...it looks like Pat Dye runs the program. He fires Gene...he makes his former coach look incompetent, out of touch. We seem to have the problem Alabama football had within their athletic department for 25 years post Bear Bryant. No single, solitary voice. Too many hands in the cookie jar. I don't know that too be the case...it's just my perception. But again, perception is reality.

shite just got real.......

I thought I may as well hop onto the bandwagon MsGarrison started within the fan base.

Dye is both incompete and out of touch. The man can barely for a complete sentence. He needs to get lost, just like his pants.

I read this article an hour or so ago and agree with almost all of it. The problem isn't that the fans aren't supporting the players, it is now that the fans have turned on the coaches and the AD. How do you show support for the team and not support the coaches? You can't so people will choose to not support the program until a change is made. Like it or not, ticket sales will plummet again and the school will have to make a choice whether warranted or not.

Meh. I will be at every game because I am student and no matter how much we suck I still wake up Saturday morning excited to watch my Tigers play. But when a team is this big of a train wreck, I don't have a problem with fans that save the money and watch it from home, especially if from out of town.
