-I think we can all mostly agree that we're really not sure if our redzone offense issues are any closer to being resolved for SEC games. ULM is terrible, up the gut won't always work with this OL and SW will get blasted if he tries to run in.

-JF3 is the backup QB so I can see the hesitation of getting him in the mix on O to avoid him getting hurt. But I think it's obvious we've gotta get him the ball on jet sweeps or something.

So, 1) what plays would you run to fix our redzone issues? and 2) how would you get jf3 involved in the offense, if you agree with using him?

1) Just the standard fade, slant, bootleg flat route that every other team in the country runs mixed in with the power run game with Pettway and some KJ wildcat

2) He seems perfect for jet sweeps/a reverse double pass if the oline gets to a place where they can protect for it.

Don't get this at all.

JF3 is a QB. And you think he will be better than KJ/Truitt/et.al. on jet sweeps?

Why is being OK at the read option and very fast as a *QB* the key to success at jet sweeps?

Bc on jet sweeps you are asked to grab the ball from the QB, get to the perimeter as fast as you can, and then cut it up field as fast as you can. JF3 is an athlete who can throw a little, not a QB. He would be very dangerous on jet aka SPEED sweeps.

Does anyone remember Nick Marshall the first half season he was here? He looked awful as a passer.

Franklin has shown he the capability to make some throws in the limited opportunities he's had.

There would be some growing pains but the potential end result would be well worth the minimal risk imo.

Sean White was 14/19 for 239 yds and 2 TDs. Why would I want Franklin in there?

So you remember it? Because as I recall he had to pass the ball to defeat Mississippi State. Threw a late TD pass to Uzomah.

Also that was the game where Gus decided to use Kyle Frazier as a wildcat qb for some dumbass reason.

All I'm saying is we've gotta get the ball in his hands in space somehow. He's not just fast, he's a burner. Can't keep that on the sideline. Our gurus need to find a way IMO.

Only thing my mind struggles with. A TE is one of the best short yardage targets for average QBs with a subpar pass blocking OL. Rice is gone and I don't think they're comfortable with J Harris so it's beating a deadhorse but I think a receiving tall TE is something we could use.

Why? all he is is fast. We have several fast guys on the team.

Because we don't play ULM every week?

I don't want to think this, but I think I think this. To get back to the top, when we have elite athletes, they have to play. Franklin looked like he was from a different planet on that TD run.

My only hesitation is against teams like the turds, when we get into spots where it's just too tough to run, can we move the ball semi-consistently through the air?

Let's not forget, he didn't know what down it was against TAMU. The dude is a mental mistake waiting to happen, and what killed JJ, not his physical ability, but mental mistakes. It's more than a minimal risk taking the team from Sean who has the teams 100% support and earned the starting job and giving to a guy who has proven nothing.

Ok but again, think about the alternative.

With White we aren't going to be able to line up and run it at them and we don't have the OL to block them consistently or the WR to win in man coverage against them.

It's not like we are taking the Greatest Show on Turf passing game off the field for Franklin. Even with White we are below mediocre as a passing offense.

And SW's completions percentage and yard against LSU were against...ULM?

You shut your mouth. White cannot be critically critiqued. He was an Elite 11 MVP.

I think if Cox improves and the line improves, most of the red zone issues go away.
Need to play the young WRs more.
Davis, Stove and NCM look like the real deal.
