Tearing it down for a designer hotel or something. I don't know if Q's was around when y'all were at Auburn but its a shame another old building with character is being torn down for yet another high-rise downtown. The guy who owned Q's is building a new bar called Southeastern right next to skybar but Q's was probably my favorite bar in Auburn, its a shame to see it go.

Here's a picture of the new bar if you're interested, it is supposedly going to have an upstairs area that caters more to alumni and an older crowd while the downstairs remains a typical college bar.

Maybe they'll put a bar on the ground floor of the hotel. No clue where they'll put parking though

The Auburn city council isn't known for through, although they may use the parking space behind the lot and just charge extra for it. greed comes first for them. That's why we have all those ugly arse high rise apartment buildings downtown now.

Soon it will be skybar and ugly high-rises downtown.

It was called the copper kettle or something like that when I first moved to auburn.

It was getting to be a pretty nasty bar so it needed to be redone. Still sucks its a hotel.

Is that the old Fink’s bar?
Posted on 8/13/19 at 9:33 pm to weagle99
No. Fink’s closer down a few years back. An apartment high rise was built in its place.

Was finks in the same location that Tigris was?

Q’s is why I’m marrying my soon to be wife. Met at Toomers corner replanting and met again later at Q’s. Wasn’t the best bar in town and had a reputation for being the bar that minors frequented but hell Skybar needs some competition not named 17-16 and with the Bank Vault turning into a Pieology the pickings are getting slim.
Haven’t been out of Auburn long and already so much has changed. In ten years it might not even be recognizable.

Most wives aren't, especially after babies. Congrats on the sex though,
for now.
edit: Oh damn dude, you were talking about downtown Auburn. Frick bro, my bad.

I wouldn't have thought there was enough room between the back of Pieology and Moe's to put in another building.
For the old timers, didn't Quixote's used to be the office for a Super 8 Motel, and the rooms were in the U shaped building behind it that backs to Wright Street?
For a while I lived in the apartments over where Moe's is now, and our 2 br only got one parking space, and we rented a parking space from the motel, and I am pretty sure that's where it was.

So what bars are in Auburn now, and where are they at?

Hopefully this follows through...
“build downtown lodging showcasing a “Southern Living” aesthetic, a Bo Jackson restaurant and the culinary talent of Chris Hastings, a James Beard Award-winning chef from Birmingham.”

That's not where Kopper Kettle was. KK was at the corner of Mag and Gay, and it blew up (literally) in 1978... Kopper Kettle explosion
In the 80's, Quixote's was called Waldo Peppers and they had 3 for 1 well drinks in giant styrofoam cups.

This will now be built across the street from AUMC. The Auburn Bank Building will be torn down and will be part of the project. The folks that owned the Quixote's building and the Hotel deal fell through. Not sure what happens to that building now.
Also, is the hotel still open? It is back there, I see cars? Is it student housing?

Hardly any. Their attempt rid the downtown of its nightlife is going to bite them in the arse.
Sky, new Quixote's, Bourbon St., 1716.
Are there any other "bar" bars left? You've got places like The Hound, the Draft House, and maybe a cocktail bar I think? Guess you can count Live Oaks as well.
Anyone currently there want to weight in?

Maybe? It was beside the Gap / Tiger Theater building.

quote:That stinks. Going to have to find a new place to park on gamedays in the future. I have been parking in the Auburn Bank lot for football games for 10+ seasons now. It started off it was the Auburn chapter of NAMI and then Auburn Kiwanis Club working the lots as fundraisers.
