Well, you did type "Not one University."
I am still baffled why some are so angry at 2-0. Gus's teams have ALWAYS started slow, even in the good years. But so do a lot of other coaches. it is frustrating but it's a hellava lot better than taking the L.
Let's see how the season develops before we get the pitchforks and run him into the windmill.

I was responding to the above post that no one would hire him. Keep moving the goalposts.
Who in the SEC would hire Kirby?
Who in the SEC would hire Saban?
Who in the SEC would hire Jimbo?
Stoops?
Mullin?
O?

Yep, sorry, I didn't see that.
I know many folks want to fire him and pay him $30M to never coach another game at Auburn. But who do you hire then?
Never said being a slow starter is a good thing. I wrote being 2-0 is a good thing.

I was at most of those games. Ugly wins. I’ve seen every coach in the last 40 years have those.

I think there has always been a kind of wtf game a year that if Gus won, the tune would be pretty different
2014 - TAMU
2015 was a shite-show, but beating a mediocre UGA team would go a long way to giving the season a small portion of success
2016 - UGA
2017 - LSU
2018 - UT
change the outcome of those five games and it would go a long way to the perception about Gus. win percentage would put him up to 10th overall nationally (23rd now) over his AU career and a top 20 finish in each outside '15
and until we stop blowing some of these games, fans will rightfully have a valid criticism of him

I agree with every word of this

Were in year what? Seven? And the program still has not been built to the standards we as fans pay for. This is it. I cant take more of Gus if he cant come through for us.
Just look at kick coverage. Its been an issue with him his entire career. FSU, LSU, UGA, Oregon, etc. Worst i have ever seen. I liken it to Alabama kicking FGs. No effort has gone into correcting it

I personally feel like the past few years we have won despite him not because of him. I’ll give him credit for hiring a good defensive staff, but the man is a terrible playcaller. He has his offense and he needs very specific pieces to run it, and if he doesn’t have those pieces it won’t work.

I have to agree. I cringed reading that list.
I am not a big Gus supporter, I do support him but those loses, DAMN. But I also think we will be with him for a few years due to the buyout. I just want to point out we could be a lot worse off and no guarantee the next coach will be better and could be much worse. Coaching changes are fun until the first L.

The man has been Auburn's HC for many seasons now.
He has had an abundance of talent to teach/coach at this level of football for season after season.
You can't seriously believe poor Auburn always has a tough schedule and cut him some slack.
This is the fricking SEC.
If you cannot recruit and develop a consistent high caliber team in 7 plus years you gotta go.
No excuses.

Why I would say Gus has broken Auburn fans more than most any other coach is because he has dangled true greatness in front of us, but then just completely shits the bed. Whether it has been seasons or even individual games (LSU game). He just seems to get in his own way and make decision that make you shake your head.
It makes no sense. The other coaches, you pretty much knew what you were getting week in and week out. Tubs would have an upset here or there, but the teams generally looked pretty similar each week. As he started to decline, so did the teams. With Gus, we get teased with the talent and ability to beat anyone in the country, then we have Jack St games or mercer games. His teams look completely lost and ill-prepared one week, only to beat Arkansas by 50+ the next.

Thankfully the powers that be know that's a dangerous game. We could end up in a 15 year rut like Tennessee very quickly thinking like that.

Since 2013, Gus Malzahn has gone 9-18 vs. LSU, UGA, Bama, and in the postseason.
In that span his offenses have ranked 5th in the SEC based on ppg & ypg combined. During the same span LSU's offenses have ranked 7th while being coached by Les Miles and Ed O.

Not make a statement one way or the other but consider this:
Shug Jordan winning % was .675
Barfield was .536
Pat Dye was .711
(unmentionable coach) was .731
Tommy Tuberville was .680
Gen Chizik was .635
Gus is currently .692
If Pat Dye had lost one more game, he would be .690

Pat Dye won multiple championships and beat our rivals...

Pat Dye didn’t have 12 game seasons, or those percentages would be higher. He also came into a much worse situation than Malzahn did.
