ST coordinator is hired but cannot announce yet due to HR. He will coordinate from off the field. TE coach & GAs will call on-the-field ST plays
Specifically looking for more OL & DL, and LB in the portal. Anything else would be gravy. Would take a QB if they find the right one
Really close on hiring WR coach, but have had to sit that aside to focus on recruiting

This is very strange he. So the guy won’t even call plays next year? Am I missing something?

I think he is meaning he is going to be a press box position and relay stuff down to the TE coach/GAs on the field.

You only get so many on the field coaches so my guess is we likely hit that limit with bringing in two DB coaches so this was the work around.

Can someone give me a quick rundown on how we did cruitin? Should I be happy? Sad?

We did pretty good for the short time period they had but it’s not the type of class we need to be competitive again.
But there’s reasons to believe we’ll get that next year and we filled some big holes.

AA7 is correct. Due to limits on on-field coaches, the ST coordinator will have to rely on other on-field coaches to actually call ST plays, unless (and Hugh referenced it) the limit on on-field coaches is increased.

We're between 16-20th nationally, 7-8th in the SEC, and 4th in the west behind them, LSU, aTm

The ST coordinator will be completely off the field. Like an analyst role. Now he doesn't have to answer the question "Why don't you have a special teams coordinator?" when one little thing goes wrong on special teams. Obviously values true position coaches more.

What do you mean? Montgomery doesn't take this job otherwise. He is a highly decorated coach that can find a job easily. You would have known if Freeze was going to call plays if he hired someone like Derrick Nix as the "OC".

Anybody that says “same old shite” after lissening to the presser is dense af and needs to stick to watching QVC.
He said this is a big boy league and he will always make sure the big boy room stays “correct.” He emphasized the continued need at OL more than any other position despite the infusion today.
