Add in 16 sacks and 9 INTs doesn’t make him very elusive or from making mistakes.

There are reasons they rank him behind a lot of the other TF QBs.

Thompson played behind a line that was a flaming dumpster fire as well, and still had a better passing % than Bo Nix.

His mobility is better than Calzada which we are going to need….Calzada has a lot of the same issues TJ Finley has with a Aggie Oline that was pretty dang good….and still only managed to hit 56% of his passes and also took 17 sacks and threw 9 interceptions.

Both are a downgrade from Nix, but Thompson IMO has more upside and unless our line just vastly improves we are going to need some mobility back there at the QB position.

Thompson statically is better than Bo.

I think Austin Davis will help a lot on evaluating whats out there in the portal.

Until I see that Auburn is offering Thompson, then I am going to assume he is not at the top of their list and not a good fit for Harsin's offense.

And if we end up with a 2nd tier QB from the portal I am going to trust Davis and Harsin to work to improve those weaknesses a QB has.

Harsin helped Bo get better in certain areas, so there is always hope...

Do you think it was more Harsin or Bobo? (Honest question)

Like what? TD's? Completion %? QBR?

Yep all of those fit nicely.

If Casey didn’t do much at Texas last year, what makes you think his stats will be better with a drop off in talent.

I mean, his stats from 2021 aren't too shabby. CERTAINLY better than anything TJ could accomplish...

2,113 yds (176/game)
24 TD / 9 INT
63.2% comp

Bo had (through only 10 games)
2,294 yds (229/game)
11 TD / 3 INT
61% comp

So Thompson isn't world-beating and has a lower YPG clip, but the comp % and TD/INT ratio is encouraging.

I'm not entirely sure what your point is...

Are you saying Thompson had more help at Texas than Bo had here?

That may be true, but wouldn't you agree he would be an upgrade over TJ? I mean, that's why we're going after QBs in the portal...again, not sure what you're getting at.

Not much sense in comparing his stats to Bo, the more pertinent comparison would be to what we imagine TJ's stats would be in a full season.

Exactly. No one in their right mind would assume TJ puts up anything close to what Thompson did at Texas last year - even if Thompson was playing with the talent currently at Auburn.

I was “getting at” AUCE saying Thompson was statistically better than Bo.

I know Bo isn’t here. Talk to AUCE about that

Wouldn’t insert yourself into the the AUCE and Jang dick measuring contest over Bo. It’s been ongoing for a while

Connor Bazelak went to Indiana. Thats one landing spot Calzone wont go to. More likely Calzone comes here I guess.

Fun fact: Zach Calzada is Cuban, he is not Italian. The last name Calzada is not an Italian last name, it is Spanish. His grandfather literally escaped from Cuba.

Bazelak to Indiana plus Calzada reportedly extending his visit tells me we should hear an announcement soon.
