Is this guy seriously whining about a position coach leaving to take a head coaching job?

Correct.

And there are plenty of HC's leaving smaller jobs to become position coaches or coordinators. Small schools don't have the same appeal they used to in the current world of CFB. Its a lateral move. Maybe he can be a feeding ground for us though, but realistically I see him fired inside of 3 years and begging for a job at Auburn again.

That's what position coaches do, though. That's what Aldridge did and a thousand other guys before then. You only go up or sideways if you coach DBs

You ride the wave and hope it works out for you

Maybe he can get Brock to transfer. We need a TE, and his dad is big poppa pump Scott Steiner. He could get the hoochies to help Auburn recruit.

Its a lateral move. If he took a P5 job somewhere it wouldn't be. Going to Jax St is lateral at best.

If losing Charles Kelley is a huge blow we got bigger problems. We will be fine.

I agree, but this is probably his only shot at HC

And also agree that he'll probably be back at some point. If he keeps leaving us top 10 safeties he can come back as often as he wants to

I actually think JSU has a AAC type ceiling. It can be a very good job.

A lateral move? The guy is 57 years old and has been coaching since 1994 (30 years) and has never been a HC. Its now or never if he ever had any aspirations of reaching that level of his profession.

What the **** are you even talking about LMAO?

Feel free to google head coaches that have left to become position coaches and you'll see. Charles Kelly is going in reverse.

I agree with the other poster though. This is not a big problem at all.

I'm curious to see what we do with the open coaching position. Lots of options right now imo.

Same thing I just said, Feel free to google head coaches that have left to become position coaches and you'll see. That old CFB thinking. The game has changed.

I mean, I commend you for your unwavering hatred of him, but there is no world that becoming the head coach at a C-USA program is a lateral move for a non-coordinator position coach.

I don't think he will do great there by any stretch, but come on man

He gets about a 200k raise and counts towards his retirement from the state of Alabama. Seems he will be fine

Ga State's last HC is currently the TE coach at SC. South Alabama's last HC is currently the DC at bama. The trend is for them to leave those spots and take lesser roles at bigger schools with more resources. He's doing it backwards.

I'm glad he's gone though. Enough of me bitching about someone who isn't here anymore

We heard any times for Singleton? The longer this goes the more I'm worried he's just using us to drive up his offer from another school.
