Athlon has been referring to him as the “Million Dollar Transfer WR” ….

To be honest, with what we already have plus the young kids coming in , do we have that kind of need at WR right now?

Unfortunately that's not how it works anymore. Half the team would leave and we couldn't afford to keep em paying yet another buy out and having to hire another new coach.

Quality post, Savage …. directly on point. Any head coaching change in the current environment is going to result in program overhaul for all but the bluest-blooded of programs.

Further, the new environment places a much higher priority on two characteristics:
Roster management
Talent evaluation

It is for this reason that I think UNC went with Belichick. Most Pro coaches excel at both …. and I think a lot of programs are watching the UNC experiment closely.

I’m not a fan of belichick, but I think the approach is sound

In all fairness I'm fine with the argument as long as it's at least loosely connected to portal recruiting. I laugh watching folks go back and forth (SOMETIMES) LOL Comparing Jackson Arnold to throne is still in SOME way tied to the subject of portal recruiting. When I get tired of it I just check out. Don't see why others don't just do the same.

Yes we do. Because fans like you that says Freeze has to win X number of games next year.

So you get the best players you can and win now.

Cam Coleman started playing well the last half of the season. Simmons is a spark plug but not sure he’s ready for 800 snaps a year. So have to have guys ready to go. Thompson needs to lose some weight or lean down some. He looked slow to be an outside WR so he’s gotta prove it now. Cain and some of the true freshman coming in aren’t a Cam Coleman however can be really good WRs giving a little time and gained experience.

If my arse was on the line to win now I wouldn’t go into the season with Coleman and Simmons the only proven guys

Jville asked for proof that he called for Finley over Nix and I obliged

Jville: Yep. Last Saturday, guys were running wide open across the middle of the field all day long, because the linebackers were jumping up to the line of scrimmage all day. Nix never once looked to the middle of the field. It wasn't until Finley came in that there were passes being thrown in the middle of the field.

At some point they are going to turn to Finley full time even if he's not necessarily better at most things solely because he sees the whole field and will try and use it.
Jville:Exactly my thoughts. The running game is going to suffer if Nix doesn't start making those overzealous linebackers pay for running up to the los at the snap, by dumping it over the top of their heads to WRs streaking across the middle.

The middle of the field can be our friend on passes, definitely to get the LBs out of the box and open up the run game.
Jville The routes across the middle of the field were wide open all day Saturday. Nix never even looked there, and Finley threw a dart that the WR dropped

My only concern with Finley is he’s a Ryan Mallet type statue in the pocket, and with our O Line, that will be a disaster.
Jville: A disaster is someone who doesn’t step up into the pocket, can’t read the field, runs backwards all the time (even when there isn’t any pressure), constantly overthrows wide open WR, etc.

Bo needs to be benched. His crap play is gonna lose us MORE games.Jville FIFY...

All I’ve seen anyone say is Finley sucks even more than Nix.
Jville: I have my reservations about that. I know Nix was named the starter over him, but Nix probably looks damn good in practice with no contact. Same as JJ did.

He has used the same excuse "looking good in practice" with Bo versus Gatewood, Bo versus Finley, and Throne versus DTHB

You need to go back to the Coaching Changes Board.

We all know you will in two years be like "Look, I am one of Freeze's Biggest Fans" just like you did with Bruce.

Comparing Jackson Arnold to throne

Nobody is comparing the 2 players, that I’ve seen. Arnold has the tools that PT just doesn’t. What the real comparison is, there was no competition for PT when it was proven he was a bust. Now, folks want there to be no competition for Arnold even though there’s a good possibility he could end up being a bust too. When Walker left the program, it became even more needed. QB has been Auburn’s main position problem for years now. It should be the top priority, and having multiple options is the logical thing to do (in case one of them is a bust).

Dunno, …. do we an extra win or two?

That’s the kind of impact a player like Singleton can make. I know he plays well outside at WR, but I suspect he would be dominating in a role similar to Luther Burden at Mizzou. A quick, heavy slot/ split with great hands …. that isn’t afraid to go over the middle … ever.

Of course, we could also pickup those same couple of wins with a good PK

In reality, we need some experience and leadership there. Here is what we are looking at right now:

Bryce Cain - rFr
Cam Coleman - Soph
Sam Jackson - Sr
Perry Thompson - rFr (or did he play in more than 4 games?)
Malcolm Simmons - Soph

Then we have guys like Cam'Ron King and Dylan Gentry.

Incoming we have the Smith brothers and Sam Turner. That isn't a ton of depth. So, Fields and Singleton i'd say are definitely needed for depth and experience.

Get the best players you can. Hope an improved roster. A manageable schedule, stay injury free, hope for some luck and some nice breaks go you way… and boom on the cusp of a playoff berth

Perry Thompson declined being redshirted so he played in more than 4 games. The staff asked if he would redshirt

Fields is in, correct?

Did the timetable for Singleton’s announcement get delayed?

Malcom, Coleman, and Perry are very solid…. and you’re correct, we need to add leadership and quality …. would’ve been nice to have KLS for one additional season

Yes, Fields is in.

No, from all indications on Singleton, they are just getting all the graphics and stuff ready. Similar as they did with Arnold when everyone was losing their mind for the 24 hours or so after he left

If we get through tomorrow and still no news, then i'd start being curious if someone else dropped a huge bag for him last minute.

I wouldn’t expect that. He will announce before the portal closes Sunday.

All signs point to AU.

Agreed, but sounds like GT is trying to pull some late rabbit out of the hat and get him to withdraw his name from portal. Sounds like AU or he stays at GT

It happens. I'm sure he played special teams, I just never noticed.

Also, once you officially redshirt, your gameday stuff goes away, you are usually doing workouts and stuff iir. I'm sure he went with the option of if I don't, and still don't play in more than 4 games, then I an still redshirt. If I do play in more, thats fine. Him being there was still good experience for him and learning with KLS, and if KLS went down for some reason, he probably would have been next man up. I get it.
