Young Qb's are not going to sit patiently, I asked this earlier in the thread what does us getting portal qb's do to the younger guys

Can't blame him but he must have either thought he should start next year or didn't think he could beat out Deuce after Jackson. I wouldn't want to just go sit at a school and not play when I could play and still get paid too. If he has NFL aspirations he won't get there from the bench.

We’re in a different world now. And as bad as PT was, if Walker was going to be the future, he would’ve taken over QB1 this season.

Seems like it might be his mom's health more than anything. There's still a breed of kids that will wait their turn.

I don’t think you spend 3.5 mil on a one year guy unless it pretty much guarantees you a top 4 playoff spot.

I highly doubt we are paying Arnold whatever we paid him, to also get Cade and have Arnold sit (presumably).
I think we put forward big big money to Cade and Sellers to see if we could get one. Arnold was the other for QB1 we went after.
Next QB we get will be more of a depth/maybe backup position.

Sucks to lose him, but as others have mentioned he has some family stuff, so I'm going to cut him a break unless I hear something different. It was probably hard being away from home while all of that was going on. They are a close family too.
In the CFB game I could never get him to stay lol. Always transfers out after the first year.

Just depends on how big we tryna ball. I don't think its a stretch to think the coaches sat Jackson down and said we'd love for you to start next year but we'd also love to have you be the backup and sit back and develop for a year if we can get one of these senior guys out of the playoffs. We'll cut you the same check either way.
Sellers is a whole different discussion and I have no reason to believe it yet. I didn't necessarily believe the cade discussion until that tweet from earlier and I'm still skeptical but it's fun to think about.

Some Texas people I know think Ewers hits the portal after the playoffs too, so you could have two CFP starters in the portal at the same time.
