People need to use common sense and realize that certain sports fund others, and that the wise investment for everyone is to invest in what will generate a return. I have a daughter who plays 2 high school sports. If she were to somehow land a scholarship somewhere, I'd never pretend that football and men's basketball didn't play a significant part in her sport being able to be funded.

It was the Oregon State QB

385 yards 3 TD 2 INT’s, -20 rushing yards in 3 games. 35 QBR.

ETA: and the Mercer QB just signed with Oregon State

Today through Wednesday is the dead period so no visits are happening.

I concur

However logic has little to do with the NIL.

What do you think our record needs to be to give recruits and fans confidence in CAG? Is 7-5 good enough?

Until / Unless he turns into James Franklin after like 6 years, confidence for me will always be based on the eye test - tough team with a competent and entertaining offense and defense.

All SEC schedules are just insane, and clearly, the Texas schools will always have more money to spend.

I think they said they will dedicate $25 mill each year. But we get $5 mill for selling the home game to Atlanta. I think that's where $30 mill comes from.

Right. However, they can still commit & sign during the dead period, so we're still hoping to get some news on a few of the players we're chasing...

The ghost expects both the USF Coles to commit by the end of the day today. He also posted a pic Durkin captioned “it’s gonna be a good day” so that might mean Shamar Arnoux pops today. Finally, he said “an electric” WR would commit soon. Maybe Noah Rogers?

I know we wanted to tar and feather Cohen for selling that game but he's in a tough place.

Maybe I'm the only one.. and let me start by saying I'm not against taking him and I can see where he has potential... but is it not a little strange that we don't have an experienced back up QB? Not expecting anyone great or anything, but a lower level guy with a couple years starting experience seems like what most would aim for in a back up QB. Our back up QB has next to no experience.. actually off the top of my head all 3 back up QBs are freshman. That's not very common. I think that's an interesting decision.

Wow, look at that...metafour was right again! #MetaGodKnows.

As I was saying, this is your obvious backup QB. A low 4-star developmental QB with upside and tools who wont mind sitting for another year. They will observe him for a season in the system, and then they can decide whether to roll with a QB competition for 2027 with the other USF kid, or to bring in a proven starter from the Portal, depending on the development of the two young backups.

I cant believe that Golesh didn't go all out and bring in Sam Leavitt as well. Coulda had a dope QB competition, and then if the starter gets hurt we'd have another elite QB ready to jump right in!

Its not strange at all.

UGA's backup is a Freshman with 27 career pass attempts (Ryan Puglisi).
Indiana's backup is a Redshirt Freshman with 25 career pass attempts (Alberto Mendoza).
Texas A&M's backup was a Redshirt Freshman with 20 career pass attempts (Miles O'Neill - he just transferred out). Their 3rd string was True Freshman Brady Hart.
Tennessee's backup was a Redshirt Freshaman with 33 career pass attempts (Jake Merklinger - he just transferred out). Their 3rd string was True Freshman Geiorge Macintyre.

I heard it’s 50/50 right now. Money is a hang up. He’s also considering Ole Miss. if it’s only about money we should be able to out bid them if we want him bad enough.

I guess. I can see the long term reasoning, but Brown has been injured before and is a running QB. I would feel a whole lot more comfortable with some experience behind him. If he goes down none of those other QBs are ready yet. That's a big risk to take imo. I'm surprised they brought him and the USF QB in instead of one or the other, but maybe they just really like both.

A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. Deuce wasn’t leaving if old piss’s QB got his waiver approved.

Man. It’s going to be hard to get a talented backup with experience. This is a new age in cfb. Someone with talent AND experience is going to be starting somewhere.
