For conversation sake, when it comes to Auburn and our history with 5 stars.. would you say more have hit or more have bust?

I can't speak for pre 1995 stuff but after that point in time good lord it feels like mostly busts. I'm including some high 4* guys in this list but I'll be missing some I'm sure.
Keihl Frazier - bust
Kodi Burns - bust (but a true Auburn guy)
Raven Gray - bust
Byron Cowart - bust
Cam Coleman - TBD but trending towards not living up to expectations
Derrick Brown - hit
Montravius Adams- hit
Mike Dyer - hit
Caddy - hit
Tray Blackmon - not a bust but not a hit either
Christian Westerman - bust
Carl Lawson - hit
Roc Thomas - bust
Owen Pappoe - closer to a hit but not quite
Calvin Ashley - bust
Trovon Reed - closer to a hit but not quite
Bo Nix - kind of middling in his time here (we now know it was coaching/scheme)
Tank Bigsby - hit
Kerryon Johnson - hit
Jared Stidham - hit
Marlon Davidson - hit
Jovon Robinson - hit
Perry Thompson - bust
Malik Autry - TBD
Nate Craig-Meyers - bust but did contribute
Duke Williams - bust

We dont even need 5*s. Give me elite 4 stars. They will also cost a pretty penny and Golesh wouldn't pay that for 4* Jace Matthews
We need Keldrick Faulk, Connor Lew, Austin Golson, Carlton Davis, Dee Ford, and so on.
Blocton couldve been a solid player despite not being a world beater as a sophomore. We need some Andrew Williams types.

Cam Coleman’s agent is trying to squeeze the cheese for more money..
Also, Coleman wants some clarity on a QB..
If he walks, look for Bama, UF, A&M, UGA and Oregon
Maybe he will be able to catch the easy money bag towards his way

The summation percentage of that list is basically 50/50

Sure, I get that but that is what we are seeing now

Both are feasible. He will command top dollar, and we are well past the nonsense we have seen at QB here since Stidham. The others are asking for starter money with backup stats. They have been offered backup money and dont like it.

We are Auburn. We will ALWAYS get those types of players but Dee Ford wasn’t exactly a high 4 star, was he?

And I dont think some of you understand what its like to run a business. A person comes to you and says "hey I dont think Im being compensated fairly, others Ive talked to are making more". Okay lets discuss it. And Im certain those discussions have taken place at Auburn football.
Now you leave the meeting and start posting on Indeed and every other job site. Its obvious you dont want to be here, be it pay or organization, etc.
So leave, but dont come back. That person will either try it again, as we have seen, or be a cancer to the organization thinking they have leverage on all aspects of their job.
The tail cant wag the dog fellas, and we have seen that for the past three years..........

Harsin era definitely didn't sign those players. Lew avoided Auburn until Harsin was fired.

I believe we’re going to do everything possible for him to buy in and help build a winner but we’ll see. He is on a short list of must have players imho.
Deuce, Cam, ESJ, Lew, JSmith, Melendez, Sl Smith and Winters are my must keeps. Obviously along with X
I also don’t think we’ve lost anyone that can’t be replaced by the production and experience gained through the portal
I had to edit. ESJ is most definitely on this short list

We havent seen any of that. We saw a coach unable to do his job. The roster was fine and they played hard.

No, he absolutely wasn't. He was a no-name camp standout that was like 205 pounds at the time. He was a classic Tuberville evaluation find. I remember his recruitment well because austudent22 was DM'ing me about the pop-up undersized DL that we were about to take because he was unblockable.

At this point, you either trust Golesh or you don’t. All I know is that we haven’t been winning, so open to it at the moment. Let’s see what he does before we start making Harsin comparisons

So if an employee of yours loved it and did a great job for you but left for a potential better opportunity, and it didn’t work out, you wouldn’t accept them back?

Exactly. Team evaluations are way more important than rankings, when it comes to scheme fit and archetypes, etc. Rankings are entertainment and made for public consumption.

How one defines a “bust” must also be taken into consideration. A 5* rating suggests they will be drafted in the 1st round. If that’s the case most are misses. Yet you have multiple ones drafted after the first round as hits. So does that mean being drafted makes them a hit? If so there need to be 3 additional hits on the list (Cowart, Roc, Westerman)
Then you have people like Duke. Duke was VERY MUCH a playmaker from his first snap to his last in an Auburn uniform. He then followed that up with a very dominant CFL career.

The same can be said for Florida, LSU, Penn State. Programs of this caliber always have a "GOOD" roster on paper (even when they fire their coach) because they have the resources to recruit well. Florida wasn't losing games because their roster was missing alleged talent either.
By your own theory, you therefore expect that all of these schools will have minimal roster turnover, correct? I.e: Penn State clearly has talent, so I should expect that Matt Campbell is just going to roll into next season with Franklin's players? We already know that this isn't happing at Florida as they have bled out several key players already. When I look at the current On3 Portal rankings, the top rated player in there is a DE from Penn State...
The obvious problem with your entire stance (which you refuse to admit) is that it has not once played out as you are pining for in any coaching change. Name me one significant P4 program in the modern Transfer Portal era that has had a new outside coach come in, who promptly retained all of the nuts and bolts of the previous coach's roster? If you can actually find me one example I will pat you on the back, I'm legitimately asking. If you can't find me any actual examples, then you need to admit that there is a reason for why that is the case.
I'm looking right now, and LSU has 7 players that were ranked as 4-stars or better out of HS (per On3) that have announced their intentions to enter the Portal since Kiffin was hired. We have had 8 such players. Out of all of the players from LSU and Auburn that have announced entry, the highest rated current player is OL Carius Curne from LSU. Yes, he is ranked as a "better" player by On3 than Jay Crawford is. So what exactly are you crying about, here? Why isn't Kiffin retaining all of this talent? Why is he letting a supposedly ELITE young OL leave? Carius Curne was ranked as a Top 50 recruit out of HS. Does Kiffin not know that he needs elite OL to win in this conference?
