Because you are familiar with them?

It’s because of who they were coached under. There was hope of taking highly ranked guys and developing them finally.

Golesh has shown the offense works in the SEC. Tennessee has regressed since his departure.

We lost like 6 one score games last year. We we're not terrible and it wasn't supposed to be a rebuild. We have the money, they just don't want to pay and want to hit the portal and replace a bunch of people.. what they don't realize it that it will cost even more to get players to transfer into this team, so we won't get top transfers. We will get people moving up a level or people who we're backs ups.

Right? I mean can we at least wait until the end of January to make our judgements on how successful or unsuccessful the portal season has been.

Our Build won jack shite. With a coaching change and new staff, I’m not sure what some expected

And “not a rebuild” sounds like we have been successful for years and we need to keep our players to maintain it. That is simply not the case here. We have lost more games the last 3-4 seasons than we’ve won

To keep most of the roster together, add some key pieces and a better coach and to turn those 1 score losses into wins.. Which is exactly how everything was sold, and now suddenly its a rebuild.

We lost like 6 games.. weren’t we something like 0-4 in SEC play to start out the last 3 seasons or something like that?

Don't be bringin all that common sense in here man.

Tell that to a 5star 18 year old who is waiting to get paid for their talent.

I think change is hard for some and I realize it’s not easy to let go of some of our favorite players but that is the age and era of college football free agency. Better get used to it imo

Maybe, maybe not. We have developed a losing culture, and one that pays very well, apparently. Some of the guys leaving never played meaningful snaps, but were paid like they did. The ego can be a powerful thing.
Maybe Auburn is offering them incentive based pay vs guaranteed money? Maybe they renegotiated the deals based on productivity?
Maybe, some of these guys were locker room malcontents? Maybe the reason we lost so many one score games was due to a team that was divided? No one willing to sell out for the team.
What is new, and what sucks, is that, right now, all we hear about are departures. It’s gonna be a long two weeks until we start hearing about who is coming in.
All of this “our pets heads are falling off” may be for nothing.
This staff knows talent. Let’s let them cook.

Blocton is not leaving for money, Dukesthescoop says he just wants a fresh start.
Lee was here before durkin and every coaching relationship he had here is gone.
I know Golesh expected to inherit a talented roster and said this wont be a rebuild, but we are in a rebuild.
Some of the starters in the portal could return but as of now ill pretend they are gone.

That was just one factor, in a litany of many and not even the most important. You did see that X is coming back to lead our defense next season, didn’t you? Are you not excited about a returning All-American coming back to lead our defense?
All of this is nonsense, considering Jan 2nd isn’t here yet and Brown isn’t even announced. Can we see what we do in the portal before we start melting?

I think Brown will be a better college QB than pro and will be Tebow/Cam-esqe at Auburn

Feel like what I'm seeing with the basketball team is what's happening to the football team.. Don't pay for good players and you will get the results that come with it.
Before the season, I thought the bball team was headed to the NIT because they were too small down low. Now I hope they at least get to the NIT. They should have kept CMB who is on a tear out West right now (21.5pts 5.4 rebs, 3.1 ast) and they should have paid up for true post players we were in on. But it's not just talent it's chemistry that you lose when rebuilding through the portal. The football team is trending toward making the same mistake.
