38 years married and your go to put down on an public forum is to compare posters to emotional women and middle school girls? I'll say less out of respect for her. God bless that woman.

Payroll is a big part of budgets for departments & companies. It needs to make sense.
Also hope our contracts have a payback penalty if needed.
Dude none of these contracts make sense. Not the players and especially not the coaches. But nobody is asking coaches for payback penalties. Regardless, we're either going to pay now or pay later. And some of that won't be specifically monetary. There is no way around it in this era.

Teams have always paid. You pay a sign on bonus, then annual compensation. The only difference is it is now in the open. Money isnt new. It is why coaches like Saban fought the transfer portal.

I am sure Golesh isn't pinching pennies. He knows what he has to spend. His reputation is on the line. I hope he is looking for the best players that he feels fit his system. I am sure Durkin has input on the decisions on the D side of the ball.

Can't wait to see all the people complaining right now about paying a future NFL player when we cheap out and bring in some G5 CBs and they get roasted every game. I bet that couple hundred K will really be worth saving at that point.
Either we pay up for a quality SEC starter or we cheap out and hope we get lucky. Those are the 2 options. Taye Seymore was a starter for Ga Tech, we brought him in and he didn't play.. That's why you pay to keep known quantities instead of chasing the portal when its not necessary.

Imagine reading that sentence 10 years ago...

I dont get the Nix hate.
He came in with like a dozen years experience coaching RB's, his last stint was developing WR's, he was paid handsomely to not call plays, but ended up calling a third... and there was little to no improvement in our RB's, WR's, nor in calling playing... to me that seems a waste of perfectly good spot and not much of an improvement.
And so yep good riddance and I hope he's just as successful in T'town.

This is such a strawman argument.
Whatever man. Yes, their plan is to go after "G5 CB's" and pay them nothing. Those are your two options: either make Jay Crawford the highest paid CB in the conference, or cheap out on G5 players!
Never mind that Rayshawn Pleasant came from the G5 and had the best single performance of any CB on the roster against Arkansas, which was one of the few games we actually won

Cignetti brought 15 players from JMU with him to Indiana. They are the #1 seed.

And I will guarantee you next year 1 million won't be the highest paid CB in the conference. Its a premium position, you pay premium prices for good players
Yes, Pleaseant worked out... Strader was decent on his best days, Robinson was terrible and Seymore was so bad he never saw the field.. hitting on 1 and missing on 3 kind of proves my point.
If you want to be in the playoffs, you have to spend like it. Otherwise will be all be sitting around wondering why we still suck.

Timing of the announcement was a smart move. We needed some good news.

FYI Hoke said XA is supposedly getting about $1mill now. This is the same amount Crawford is allegedly asking and we can all agree XA is way more valuable than him.

Different positions. CB is more valuable than LB.

Yes but an All-American LB is more valuable than an above average CB

I’m going to disagree with you there. It’s way easier to replace a linebacker than it is a lockdown corner. And I’m saying that as someone that loves Atkins and the way he plays.

The pissed off fans have so thoroughly convinced themselves that we should give JC the money that every TD thrown against our defense, next year, will be because we didn't give Jay Crawford 1 million dollars...
X got paid; Crawford didn't. I have to believe there is a reason.

Or we could pay him like we did a OU QB and watch him fail
Its a tough argument. There is no way to know what is going to happen
