A lineman as a developmental piece that signed Mykall Lundy Foster. His film shows really nice feet, lots of pulls and shifts, very quick. To Corch's point, this is a guy you give a scholly maybe a grand or two spending money per month and get him in the program and the weight room. In a couple of years he contributes and you adjust his pay, or he doesnt and you dont.

Favor Edwin was probably making that contribution level pay, and was not playing at all. Now to cut him back he probably isnt happy and will go somewhere else.......and end up with the same lower amount we offered him.

A couple of side notes.

Tavian Branch the DL, he will be a good one. You know what his final choices were: Va Tech, Auburn, Penn State, and Ole Miss. All four with head coaching flux, no wonder the kid had a tough time deciding. Apparently when Vontrell found out he was staying he contacted the kid and asked what he was waiting on and Branch said....I was waiting on you

Jase Mathews. If his knee heals, and thats the second injury to the same knee, if it heals he will probably not play for another year. That would be a lot of money, hoping that the knee heals, and he could still transfer before ever playing a down. Thats a heck of a risk and a lot of money, if you need to win now.

It makes zero sense to pay a QB fresh out of high school. Use that money elsewhere.

This is why I don’t get attached to the Stars.

Our own “Walter Walker White” hasn’t contributed anything for Baylor. 5* recruit and hasn’t cooked any ‘Blue Sky’ yet

I want to bet the lineman leaving have had their film dissected every way from multiple viewpoints and Drago has brought it all up to their face to show their laziness consistently.

They film every drill or every practice.

I don’t think we had several hidden future NFL hall of famers on the bench in the offensive line group.

But I’ve been spectacularly wrong about lots of things.

Leon Hart was a hall of fame signee.

I am not personally surprised or concerned by any of the names we have heard so far. As others have mentioned, this is a coaching change so there is going to be a lot of turnover in the roster. Certain guys aren’t going to fit the scheme and a lot of guys are going to be asked to take pay cuts based on the current needs and production. Also, since the portal isn’t technically open yet, it makes sense that you are only going to hear the names of people expressing their intent to leave the program. Teams shouldn’t be allowed to really contact other players yet, and although I’m sure stuff is happening behind the scenes, that information shouldn’t be public. So it is going to sound worse since the information is all going to be one way until we get closer to the portal actually opening.

So far from the names that are planning to enter the portal there is really 1 expected starter: Malcolm Simmons and maybe 2 expected contributors: Perry and Carter. All of which can be replaced. We have yet to hear anything from the actual known projected starters: Cam, Deuce, Cobb, Xavier Atkins, Crawford, Blockton, Amaris Williams, Malindez, our safeties.

Those are the guys that should be our actual priorities, and I think it’s clear those are the guys our staff is having serious conversations with and negotiating with. We won’t keep all of them more than likely, but the fact we haven’t heard anything about them tells me that’s where their priorities are and other guys are making decisions because they didn’t like what the initially heard. And that’s okay. We need some turnover in this roster and need to be smart about how we use our money to fill out the best roster possible. There will be plenty of options in the portal to fill out a solid roster if you can hold onto as much of the core starters as possible.

He has said that he 100% plans to return to Auburn next year. I know this was not long after the Iron Bowl and things can change, but that is still more than you'd usually get.

Except that he wasn't even #2 on their depth chart. He was #3 or #4, and he was actually behind a low 3-star kid who was from the same HS class as him (Nate Bennett). The Bennett kid actually played a few snaps this season; Walker White didn't.

Its not a promising sign when you are getting lapped over by 3-stars who are the same age as you.

Walker played against pop warner level competition in high school. I’m talking about competition that your average 1A Alabama high school team would dominate in. College has been a huge shock to him I’m sure.
