Either way, this kid has been here for two seasons and has basically been a ghost. He plays on the special teams unit.
If you believe that he is actually some elite talent, why hasn't he shown it yet? We clearly had an average at best OL so its not like he was sitting behind All Americans. They had 17 year old Ellis pushed into the lineup and not a peep about Carter.
He is also listed at nearly 350 pounds. Clearly there are issues with weight/work-ethic.
This really isn't even a loss. You are talking about a guy who never saw the field. You can find these former high recruits who never saw the field all over the Portal. I'm sure that LSU and Florida have some former Top 150 bust OL that is about to enter the Portal that we can scoop up, if you are worried about just picking up former top recruits who really haven't panned out at all.

We are gonna lose close to 30 players +/- a couple numbers. If we are gonna freak about non starters then it’s gonna be a long portal season. We turned over what 30 players last season when we didn’t even have a coaching change. Granted we can’t just move all USF players to AU but the QB and a couple WRs wouldn’t be bad maybe an OL or 2 and a couple defenders. The rest you better go get quality players from every where.

We could have afforded to keep Carter on the books for another year especially if we are interested in overrated Ryan Williams which supposedly draws in 2.7 million in NIL. Dont blow the budget on one dude and ask for discounts the rest of the way.
You dont want to just replace players with a little promise just because theyre replaceable by discount players.

If we bring in any quality competition (and we absolutely should), I suspect Duece will hit the road. If you can point to the recruiting rankings, you'll be guaranteed a starting shot somewhere. Like Jalen Rashada or Malachi Nelson.

I would spend all my NIL money on OL/DL. The model seems to be find a veteran QB in the portal.

I am not but I hope we pay him about a million to sit and let him compete for the job next year.
If you remember that video I posted about the veer and shoot it pretty much explained the QB doesnt have to often throw into tight windows.
If he gets better then it will be a dynamic handover from Byrum Brown to Deuce Knight.
