That is arguable at best. And factually incorrect at worst.

there are some good players who need to develop and be put in schemes to make them successful.

We played two freshman corners saturday, a fresham MLB, two freshman OTs... and there are a bunch of sophomores who are playing tons of minutes.

I think guys like Mason, Coates, Robinson, Dismukes, etc have talent.... we need a staff in place to take advantage.

Sad but true. JJ giving Chizik that freaking ridiculous buyout after two years is ridiculous. It was very risky and I understand I guess because of the national title. Jesus though, really screwed us.

JJ gave Gene that buyout to protect his own neck... I don't doubt anyone here believes this

I was told last night that Gene and Jay Jacobs would be let go at season's end... if not before.

I know I don't have many posts. Believe it or don't, just passing along what I heard.

Hey ell... Who do you want as a coach? Got any ideas of good ADs? I am very ignorant when it comes to ADs.

FWIW, I would run naked down peachtree st if both got canned. That would indicate we're serious about improving in all of our sport programs.

I would be floored if this happens. Not because I have disputing evidence, but because I would be so happy.

Whoever thinks we're keeping Chizik, I question your mental capacity. We're about to go winless in the SEC. No way he survives that.

I am not well versed in ADs either. Just based off athletic succes I would look at the AD of Baylor. All of their major athletic programs have improved the past 5 years. As for the HC I am torn. Speaking strictly on the field Petrino is the best available candidate hands down IMO but the backlash could be a problem. Fisher is a great recruiter but if we got him away from FSU judging from his short career it looks like they underachieve a bit and we can expect to lose a game we are not suppose to each year. Charlie Strong is a great defensive coach and recruiter but it is likely we would not keep BVG in that scenario, After those 3 I would look for the best offensive head coach where we could keep BVG as the DC. Someone like Sonny Dykes.

I hope you are right.

As far as AD's, I've heard Joe Dean jr from Bham Southern. We also interviewed Scott Ethridge last time. But a good proven AD would do wonders for the department as a whole. It's obvious that Jay Jacobs doesn't have a clue.

Agree. I'm not in favor of keeping Chizik. I didn't like him when he was here as a DC, or when JJ hired him as HC. I am just pointing out the facts, and how JJ has put us in a bind. It'll be hard to get rid of Chiz, and if we do, JJ should have no say so in the next hire.

While it's definitely a bunch of money to dump him, his buyout only goes down by 2.5 mil or so next year really right? So you aren't really saving anything by keeping him and dumping him next year. And when you consider you'll probably start losing ticket sales and donations to the program by keeping him, it's very likely to be a wash out at the least.

And personally I think we'd lose a ton more money by keeping Chizik just from lack of fan interest and anger.

Yeah I think the best situation for the money is Petrino with BVG as DC. Would help us retain our defensive recruits as well. I hate when people say Petrino couldn't beat saban, but he never had the talent at Arky that he could have here at Auburn. Basically I would be thrilled with Petrino, Fisher, or Strong.

Petrino is the best football coach on the market. Still hard to believe we go after him.
