Some random rich people are just going to buy the rights to that, too.

It should be Pearl Arena and nothing against the Neville's who I'm sure are fine people but I will never call it Neville Arena.

To hell with you clowns, War Damn Nevilles. Thank you for bankrolling our facility upgrades. Pearl court will happen in time.

The ville isn’t the worst. Will always be the jungle for the student section but at least it’s not some corporate money grab and people who actually love the program

Agreed. Plus it will eventually be Pearl-Neville Arena and we can call it Pearlville.

The money is more important than the name. Thankful they invested.

Exactly.

If Pat Dye can have a field named after him, instead of putting his name on the stadium too, with all he had done for Auburn, then I see zero problem with Pearl's name being on the court someday.

And Dye seemed not worry about it back then as much as some of you guys worry about the Arena's name.

I don't understand everyone's angst about this stuff

No new arena is going to be named for some legend of the school - they're all going to have corporate or booster names on them.

But if Pearl wants to go win a title this year and make his claim on the court a done deal - let's do it

I'd be in favor of changing hallowed Jordan-Hare assuming someone gave 300 million for Harsin to use in the NIL program.

The Neville’s are part of our success. They helped cut down the nets. They spent a lot of time with Bruce after the game. By all accounts they are great people. It was Auburn that decided to rename the Arena.

Not only was Coach Dye not worried about it - He loved it.

He said (my paraphrase) “Nothing means more than naming a patch of dirt and grass in Auburn after me”.

RIP coach. You will always be my favorite.

Coach K Court as well.

Makes sense. Coaches do their work on the court/field.

Our next legendary coach needs to have the last name Law. Then we name it "The Court of Law".

I'll see myself out.

Regarding Duke:

quote:

Cameron Indoor Stadium is an indoor arena located on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. The 9,314-seat facility is the primary indoor athletic venue for the Duke Blue Devils and serves as the home court for Duke men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball. It opened in January 1940 and was known as Duke Indoor Stadium until 1972, when it was named for Eddie Cameron, who served at Duke as men's basketball coach from 1928 to 1942, football coach from 1942 to 1945, and athletic director from 1951 to 1972.

It is normal practice to name positions and facilities after donors. David Shaw at Stanford has the official title as Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football.
