They are smart. I don't think they really wanted to go with Gus, or approve that kind of contract, but when Leath pushed, they just said ok, go ahead. And now that albatross hangs around Leath's neck and they do not mind it at all because I have heard he has been pissing people off since he go there.

So an up and comer is going to beat the machine that Saban built or Georgia and LSU regularly? Where and who is this messiah? We are no different than any other program in CFB. Hope to be competitive and win a couple big games. Maybe a playoff spot every once in a while. Some fans expectations are just unrealistic. Fire, rinse and repeat isn't a great strategy.

Does anybody else ever think about what this season may have been had we not given up that 75 yard TD, stopped one of those 3rd and longs or the 4th and 7 or made one or two more first downs against LSU and not choked that game away? Or if Stevie Wonder wasn't the replay official in Starkville?

I think we probably beat MSU and def UT and give UGA a decent game and are top 5-6 right now.

Instead we are an absolute mess with seemingly no clear path to get back on track and everyone hates everything.

Hear ya but I don't live in the rearview. It's never about where you have been but instead it's about where you are going.

Where are we (Auburn) going? No idea but it doesn't look good. This is far more than just a Gus issue. He is just a symptom of the dysfunction.

I agree but looking to the future is kinda bleak. I'm just always amazed at how thin the margins are that shape both our perceptions and reality.

How in the HELL is Saban being in Tuscaloosa responsible for the degradation of our QBs every year? How does Saban take the blame for our OL not being able to block a D-2 school? Is Saban calling the offensive plays for Auburn too? Maybe Saban is trotting out Anders for all those 50+ yard FG attempts.

Saban being at Alabama has little to nothing to do with our success against a shithole team like Tennessee!

Completely agree

Tennessee hired a REAL football coach that has taken Gus to task every game but one

Let's be honest both Pruitt's predecessors and his successors have and will take Gus to task as well. Any coach with any talent has done this more often than not.

I'm sick of hearing how Auburn can't be good until Saban is gone! Pussies think like this! Dye ended the Bear, time to get someone with some balls and doesn't give two shits who is coaching across the State!

I would enjoy seeing a coach with the ability to adjust to his players. Maybe recruit a smaller quick running back and a big bruiser. The receivers seem to be the only offensive group that has several body types and speeds, half of which never see the field or have a pass thrown their way. Gus seems to not know what direction he wants to go anymore.

I know I'm in the minority with this thought, but Joey Freshwater is the perfect man for the job. He would want nothing more than to beat the hell outta Saban as often as possible. But he isnt a Christian Saint. So Auburn most likely wouldn't even look at him. Ive actually seen people on other sites use the fact Gus doesn't curse and never yells at his players as a defense to keep him employed. Such absurd thinking. Would Joey Freshwater do what it would take to win? ABSOLUTELY. But at the same time he would be sneaking into bars incognito, doing coke off coeds belly, lol. So thats why Auburn most likely wouldn't give him the opportunity. But if we did... I think he would be the Saban killer

The baffling thing is, this is what Gus IS supposed to be. How do we explain the 2013 turnaround? The 2009/2010 massive offensive improvement? It is just painful.

Have you seen our offense this year? Seriously, how can you believe this drivel

Chip actually is a good offensive coach. His offense at his previous stops prove that to be so. The problem with Chip here, is that: A. He didnt get to bring any of his own coaches and B. He isnt getting to run HIS offense.

Auburn had another OC in the past that wasnt allowed to bring in his own coaches and wasnt allowed to run HIS offense as he had ran it in his prior stops. I cant believe that everyone doesn't see Tony Franklin whenever they look at Lindsey. They both had dynamic offenses. Both were hired and not allowed to bring their own position coaches and neither were allowed to run the offense they were hired to run... and both had similar results.

Somewhere Rhett Lashlee is sitting back laughing saying "I told you so... and y'all thought I was the problem."

Let’s not act like Lashlee is some offensive guru. His offense sucked at UCONN and isn’t doing that great at SMU.

Of course he isn't. He learned on the job from our buffoon of a head coach. But my point is that Gus is in control of the offense, not whoever is our OC. I was Lashlees #1 critic. I ABSOLUTELY felt he was the problem since he was the OC.

HOWEVER with that being said, UCONN adored him. They were talking about making him the HC in a couple more years. And they were pretty upset when he left. They didnt wish him good riddance. They wished he hadn't left. After Lashlee went there, i joined a couple of their football forums to see what they thought about him. I saw the posts where they were mad that he left. People dont get mad when coaches they dont like leave. I didnt hear a single Auburn fan get mad when he left. I didnt see a single Auburn fan get mad when Hand left. We were glad they were both coaching elsewhere. That certainly isnt how UCONN felt when Lashlee left there. Now i know UCONN isnt some powerhouse. I know Lashlee isnt a world class OC. But we were happy to see him leave. They were not happy when he left.

Improved QB play. Chris Todd was a smart player, just had a weak arm.

Newton is the GOAT coupled with the most upper class team I can ever recall. Damn near every starter was a senior (32 player left after that year.)

Nick Marshall was a wizard. Chizik left some talent on offense.

I think I've mentioned it before, but his coronation was disgusting. Threw himself a royal party with singers and everything to welcome himself as King Auburn.
