the players that tried to tackle ankles and just run up lower their shoulder and not wrap up?

Well did it look like they even practiced tackling? Number 5 wasnt even trying to tackle. Did the coach crawl arse?

That’s as bad a game as I’ve ever seen us play.

Can we stop with the overreactions please.

Some of y’all have very short memories. We got torched by quite a few receivers in 2012-2014.

We have talent and depth. It will be fine. Yes we could have played better but Baylor has some talented guys don’t discount them.

I think first week it's hard to get a secondary right, I'm not saying this isn't a blaring issue, but I'm not going to fully judge them on it yet.

who knows? were you watching the sideline all game? I am sure Durkin didn't spend the entire game with his thumb jammed up his arse.

Our D was extremely solid last year. Durkin did not forget how to coach over the off-season.

Yea most teams that have played so far have looked pretty damn sloppy. I’ll give it a couple games. I didn’t see anything defensively that wasn’t fixable. I have issues with some of Durkin’s scheme but the actual play on the field, main issues were just misalignment/communication and not breaking down on tackles and launching instead.

With the limits on practicing now, even in the NFL it takes them a few games to get settled in defensively.

Yes. Durkin was smiling as usual.

That probably pissed me off more than anything. Light into them some, even if it is just for show. Damn

Baylor is screaming that Refs stole the show…..they were SEC Refs and they officiated as such…….but face it Baylor got their lunch stolen because they couldn’t play SEC ball.

The refs made some bad calls/no-calls both ways.

Baylor lost because they got man-handled on the LOS on both sides of the ball. Been a long time since I have seen us dominate on the lines that way.
I hope that continues into SEC play.

I don’t understand the Durkin hate or dislike
The beginning of my dislike starts with how much we play 3 DL. Then moves to the massive cushion and the bend don't break style we play. Then moves to dropping our DE's into coverage so much. I don't mind it for the rare mix up, but he does it way too much. I don't think he's terrible and I understand why he does most things, but I just don't like the scheme. Its not Auburn defense.

Not a 1-1 comparison, but kind of reminds me of Roof. Not a bad DC, but maybe not the right guy for Auburn.

As an official with 25 years experience, more often than not, not only is fan wrong, but the idiot behind the Mike, sees the game like most of the women in stands.

More fans suck than people that spent years to get where they are in stripes. In other the fan population plus the announcers far surpass the zebras, percentage wise.

Yeah Durkin is thought so poorly of the defending national champions just tried hiring his this off season.

Baylor going to chew yardage, that’s what they do. I mean they only threw for like 450 against LSU in the bowl game.

They scored on a couple busted coverages the first week of the season. Let’s see how this plays out. I tend to think we will, you know, improve as the season moves on like good teams tend to do.

I’m starting to think that’s not his fault. I think he has a perma smile, it’s frozen, Joker of the plains. He always looks like that. I’ve seen him over there looking like he was going to chew some arse and that face never moved.

I’m amazed anyone is willing to officiate any game.

Everyone criticizes the officials.

There are several rules that I probably don’t really understand fully. Holding and pass interference come to mind.

The penalties teams make before the snap are maddening. Good coaches should have the players able to align in a legal formation every play.

That’s what culls the herd the most. The guys that takes criticisms to heart, from those that know the least.

My daughter laughs at this.

‘Dad learned the most from the rule book, because I was dating and he waited up for me until I got home.”

She walked in one night, I’m reading the rule book.

Dad, you don’t have to wait up for me

Yes, I do

That means, you don’t trust me.

It has nothing to do with trusting you. It has everything to do with trusting guys like me.

She smiled, leaned over, kissed me on the forehead and replied “Now I understand.”

I got high grades in rules tests for years.

There are roughly 150 plays in a college football game .

22x150= 3300 possible violators.

I doubt we’d ever finish a game IF they imposed some sort of AI aided camera system to officiate.

I’m sure there are “bad calls/no calls”, but I imagine they balance out over time.

The coaches are paid millions, the payers are paid pretty good, the officials are the lowest paid, but held to a standard of perfection.

Reviews should be turnovers, scoring plays, and coaches challenges. 2 per half. Inside 2 minute- booth review.

Nothing will ever be perfect.

Bama was called with a holding penalty and the broadcast crew never showed it. Thank God it was only Bama but when shite like that happens that means we are ever closer to rigged. I want no part of AI. Especially when it comes to everything just to make that clear.

Pull out a TI 83 if you want AI

I was “invited” to join the SEC. It takes a lot of work to make it there. In my case that includes a drive from Tampa Bay to Gainesville. Without pay. Two times a week during the season. In the end , I called and told them that my change in job title plus an $80 thousand increase in pay was more important than a step up in a hobby. The only professionals in football is in the NFL.

There were a lot of officials in High School you never want to see at the college level. Too slow and unable to understand the rules. The hobby, is not something they want to turn into a profession.

Then the two most notable fouls with the most controversy are holding and pass interference. You can’t get into an officials meeting without a debate taking over. Those are not an exact science.

Then comes the fact that “we” are forbidden from talking to the press.
