Millennials showed up early tonight. Yea I came back

They’ve run out of a lot of their draft beer (not surprising for first weekend being open). Lots of good bottles left. St. Bernardus Abt. 12 is one of my favorite beers out there. I’ve been sipping on the Straight to Ale Roggenbier in a 1L stein. Pretty good.

Good people make the worst beer in town. Cahaba has the best beer and venue.

Avondale is the worst Bham beer though. No contest.

Had the Roggenbier and the Dunkle. Not a huge German style beer fan, but these are good examples of the style and are delicious on draft.

The curry ketchup is fricking crazy. Gonna dump curry into my ketchup as soon as I get home.

There’s a lot of punchable bearded faces here. I’m jealous as I couldn’t grown one to save my life. Taking it to Fig Tree in Cahaba Heights to eat dinner on the new deck they put in.

Yea curry ketchup is the tits. Good on so much. If you get the frankfurter, it has the curry ketchup plus a Smokey mayo in it. Fantastic combo.

I liked the dunkel. The Hefe Weis they had yesterday was a good one. Very pure and simple but good.

I am impressed by the food you have shown, but the way you can turn your beer sideways and not even come close to spilling any is wizard level abilities.

Pretty cool spot. Only drawback is no American sports on TV.

Yea the tv choice was weird. Had a bunch of motorcycle racing on when I was there. I enjoy racing every now and then, but here were a ton of A-Day games. Why not have those on?

Per the bartender, they don't want to be a sports bar, so they only show European shite on the TV. To fit with the German theme.

Pretty fricking stupid idea if you ask me.

Yea that is pretty dumb. If that’s the case, just don’t have tv’s. Or just play movies or something. If people can’t go watch a football game there, they are losing a huge source of business. You can do both, you can play European sports and US sports. There are enough hours in the day.

I told my wife that this is the place you go BEFORE or AFTER you go where ever you're going for dinner. I'm amazed daily at the things going on in Birmingham, AL. Hard to believe this is the same place I grew up.

Yea if you haven't really been to bham in the last 3-5 years, you'd hardly recognize it.

Disagree. This place is 'cool' because of the unique niche it fits. The less "European experience" it is, the less interesting

It's a great move

Eh, to say they won't show American sports because they don't want to be a sports bar, yet show European sports so they still are a sports bar is dumb.

There is enough time in the day to do both. They are still an American Beer Garden. Show European stuff and show American stuff. In the fall, if they just refuse to show an Alabama or Auburn football game, they are just foregoing a ton of business. Run European stuff outside of big events. To just refuse it is a bad move IMO. You're just saying that saturdays during the fall you want to put shackles on your business.
