quote:True, but that's the risk/reward balance right now. More potential, but unproven in college and likely cost a lot of money and you're stuck with him if it doesn't work out or less potential, but more proven in college and cost less.
The nice part is that he’d have plenty of eligibility. You’re not going to catch a lot of freshman in the portal with a lot of snaps under their belt on a playoff team. That was my main interest there
WR might be the deepest position in this portal window though. Even the 2 guys from Colorado who are transferring are decent options (Craig- Soph 23-359-3 and Tyson- Fresh 22- 470-4). Both of those guys are more proven and probably cost way less than someone like Hudson. Agree we need help still, but still plenty of options at WR.. just not at like the 6 other positions we need lol.

Someone more knowledgeable than I (that should be a rather large crowd) give a summary on who we have on the board for OL?
I know Daniels, Calhoun and Poe, but do we have any chance at them, and who else?

quote:JHead put out a mock class yesterday I think.. Not that I put much stock in it, especially this early, but its a general idea of who to follow at some positions. These we're the OL he projected us landing..

Casey Poe, Fletcher Westpaul, Jameson Riggs and Ethan Calloway.
Mentioned Daniel Calhoun, Chase Malamala and Khalil House as other names to watch.
That whole group is a pretty general idea of who to follow for OL right now, but I'm sure more names will keep popping up like the Finau guy we just heard about for the first time yesterday.

Thanks jt33. I just noticed in the last week we lost a couple of potentials to oklahoma and penn state and have not heard a lot of names mentioned. Got a lot of work to do there.

Zaquan Patterson quotes per Pink:
quote:
He made a quiet trip to Auburn in early April with his uncle and enjoyed getting a more personal look at campus, the new facility, and being with coaches.
“I recently just went up there not too long ago,” Patterson said. “Probably like, I would say two or three weeks ago. I really did see a lot of new stuff. I usually went up there for games. Everything before was all fast-tempo. They showed me what all they bring to the table. When I saw that, I grasped what I can do. All the things they do and the relationship with their players. It showed me that they appreciated their players and value their players.”
quote:
“I have a really good relationship with the guys over there,” Patterson said. “Coach Zac “Etheridge”, he’s been pushing strong since day one. That just shows me that he cares. The rest of the staff are great people.”
quote:
“What I try to look for in a school is not only the school but a family,” Patterson said. “The fan base at a place like Auburn, the home town is all Auburn.”
Etheridge is not the only coach that has been in communication.
“Yeah, I talk to a couple of other guys over there, I talk to some of the recruiting coaches and to Coach CrimeDawg (Wesley McGriff) a lot, he’s a cool coach,” Patterson said.
quote:
Hugh Freeze had a sit down with Patterson while on campus as well.
“Oh yeah, I talked to him,” Patterson said. “The approach he took was so straight-forward and honest and genuine, it really touched me and my uncle. We really got to see the school before we talked to the head man. We saw the school and we liked it, then we liked him.”
quote:
“I took my time through this process to really get the feel from all the schools,” Patterson said. “Who I put in my top five are genuine schools that I really do appreciate. I can see myself playing there. All of these schools have guys that I have been talking to since day one freshman year. I have the same love for everybody, that’s why I want to take those OV’s, you know.”
quote:
“I wouldn’t mind playing at any school in my top five,” Patterson said. “Now, it’s really up to my mom. She hasn’t been on a visit yet, so these visits are for her. She gets to see the school, she gets to see the environment. You know, mom knows best. I like them all, these are the schools I see myself playing at. Mom knows best, so she’s going to let me know what it is and what it’s not.”

Looks like Buchner is shutting it down after his visit to tuscalooser today.

Good cause don’t think he improves our QB room anyway.

If he did it was only barely.

He’s at TCU now.
Hopefully we see McCall’s name pop up in the portal soon.

Rumors on the other AU boards is that Taulia could be leaving Maryland

To go back to uat? He’d be a good fit in Freeze’s offense.

Not sure where he’d go

We shouldn't as Grads don't have to go to the portal. They can grad and leave...

We talked about Taulia on one of these boards a few weeks ago…figured that’s who we were waiting on and why things had gotten so quiet. Fingers crossed.
